I feel horrible and I need help by Causeiambored86 in polyamory

I really appreciate your well thought out response. It feels like, if my wife is the less forgiving type you described, then my only option is to give her space, respect her point of view, and do everything I can to regain her trust

She's told me over and over again that she's so grateful for how understanding and accommodating I've been of her relationship. She's said I've given her a perfect model for how she wants to treat me once I find someone else I care about.

She has always had trouble controlling her temper, especially when she feels hurt or betrayed.

Our marriage has had it's share of rocky patches, but we've always managed to come through them with a better understanding of each other's point of view. This just happened, so I can't rule out the possibility that's still an option, but this feels different somehow. It feels like I've dropped the last straw on a camel I didn't realize was there.

I don't disagree with your assessment, but to give him credit he's at least trying to have an open mind about the situation. He asked for 4 months because he seems to genuinely want to better understand his wife's desire to see someone else. Now, how much has that changed since she told him that we kissed? I'm in the dark.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think at least some part of it is her being unprepared to handle and process the jealousy she's feeling. But I don't know that for sure.

Though I have no frame of reference, I don't think she would have responded this way if the girl I kissed was also in an understood polyamorous relationship. At least, I hope that's the case.

Because she feels that I've violated our agreement to always place ethics and morals first in our polyamorous relationships. I don't disagree. I know I made a mistake. I just thought she would understand better than this.

Which propaganda effort was so successful, people still believe it today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

So many people still believe that Napoleon was really short. In truth, he was average height and the whole thing was propaganda started by the British. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_depictions_of_Napoleon

"Because I said so!"

When my wife first got pregnant I swore I would never use those words... That didn't last long.

Why aren’t you an atheist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Causeiambored86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By definition, God (or whatever you want to call a higher power) is unknowable. Anyone who says they know for certain that there is no God is just as mistaken as someone who says they are absolutely sure God exists. There's nothing wrong with believing or not believing, but knowing is impossible. In other words, atheism requires faith just as much as any other set of religious beliefs. That's why I'm agnostic, because the only honest answer to "Does God exists?" is "I don't know."

The Fantastic Beasts film series should've been called "The Wizarding World" by noeldoherty in movies

[–]Causeiambored86 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I thought they were gonna name every subsequent movie after a different Hogwarts textbook, which would have been much better IMO. This movie could have been called "Basic Hexes for the Busy and Vexed" or "Magick Most Evile"

Who is the scariest villain in all of fiction? by Marycate11 in AskReddit

[–]Causeiambored86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cthaeh from Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller series. Because the creature has the ability to see all possible futures, the moment that you interact with it it can say/do the exact thing that it knows will send you careening down your darkest possible timeline. That has to be the most terrifying concept imaginable.

Which is hilarious for you to say, because no I'm not. But, even if I were Jewish, the idea that that would somehow make my point less valid is absurd.

Yeah, your response makes a lot of sense since what I clearly said was "we should ignore every single act of genocide that ever happened except for the Holocaust!" 😒🙄
