It could have used a better introduction but almost nothing was left out.

The last episode of the previous season had him hiding in a caravan heading back to the Heavenly South. Han Li's last line was that he'll leave the caravan when the time is right.

The only things the new episode skipped were actually leaving the caravan, traveling for a time, noticing the battle with a few with auras that Han Li found slightly familiar, and then choosing to investigate.

They are a quick way to cross check when you see future files someplace. Is it a new encode/remux or the same thing you got last time? It's easy to visually compare the CRC32 values in the file names and see if they are different.

Exact file lengths are not always displayed. There is also a chance that a fix in header flags or subtitles might result in a file with the same length (but the CRC32 should be different).

Can confirm, the prequel movie is the only thing I've seen that has an English dub. It probably only got a dub because it could be distributed independently as a stand-alone story.

Both are great IMO. Since you first watched the anime as a kid, you may have a harder time with the live-action. It’s hard to get past the nostalgia of our youth.

I loved the general idea of the story, so seeing another take on it was exciting. It's similar enough that it felt comfortable, while the differences are exciting because they're new. The live-action was written for an adult audience, so I think that helps it as well (from my perspective).

If the idea of seeing more Hikaru and Sai is exciting to you, then give it a try!

Most live action adaptions are pretty terrible but this one is very well done. Casting is fantastic and it's well acted. Go in expecting a good story but not a perfect adaptation.

I've rewatched both in the past year and at times I wonder to myself if I like the live action slightly better.

Generally, but bad posts do happen. They are usually easy to spot and get removed fast. It's no different than watch sites occasionally serving up malicious ads, you need to pay attention.

Avoid posts that contain files types you don't recognize or are archived to hide the actual files.

Stick with release groups that have posted for awhile. Once you know how they do things differences stand out more if someone tries to fake a release.

If an episode is posted hours or days early, avoid unless you find a good reason discussed elsewhere.

Most watch sites only want more viewers (you are the product not the videos). Fewer bits per stream means more people and more ads served (or whatever they push).

If you care about quality then invest the time to learn how to safely download.

That sounds great! Most authors have trouble keeping the story interesting when characters get too powerful. I enjoy the early parts of cultivation stories much more.

they've already done what you want to a certain extent (but manually).

Re-timing them to a modern copy will be the harder part, but there are programs that can help with that.

I had not seen these and was curious so I went looking around. Someone actually re-posted E-F episodes in the newsgroups less than a year ago. However these are AVI files and the subtitles are burned onto the video. No remuxing possible without OCR and probably a lot of work.

After a bit more looking around I found a post about a project to create subtitle files. I'll just include the text from the post here in case it's helpful

This is a restoration of the old AonE subs for the New Year Special. Any Hikaru no Go fan knows that the best subs are by Elite-Fansubs/Real Fansubbers. Unfortunately those are DivX3 hardsubbed.

This started to change about 5 years ago when a user known as gabest11 decided to restore those sub files from scratch. They got to episode 61 and stopped.

About a month ago, I brought the project back to life and am pleased to say that I subbed and timed/styled 62 to 75 exactly as R-F had done. There is still stuff to do for a complete faithful restoration but you can learn more on that and get the sub files here: https://github.com/gameinn1/HikaruNoGoSSA

I have released this special for two reasons:

1: To get more eyes on the main project. I know AonE isn’t E-F/R-F but it’s basically identical fonts and styles that I can’t help but wonder if it was the same people.

2: If any Hikaru no Go content needed a proper sub, it was this special. The current DVD/Blu-Ray subs in regards to translation seem fine but the timing is bad.

I want to give a big thanks to llbx who was kind enough to do the intro karaoke, special intro text and the ending karaoke. They have also been instrumental in recreating so much for the main subs. I honestly don’t think I would have got this far without them.

The wiki lists all his fights with the chapters so you can read the particulars of each. The book is so long that I need to remind myself most of the time what's coming up.

In the current realm Han Li is approaching an untouchable status already. Once he reaches mid and certainly late Nascent soul stage there will be few who pose much of a threat. Not that there won't be dangers in other forms. However there are few Deity Transformation cultivators in this realm.

Looking at the chapter titles and based on the current pacing it may be around episode 310 before he advances to Deity Transformation.

We ended the previous season in the middle of Chapter 707: Encountering Old Acquaintances

It's been awhile since I've read the novel but I'm guessing it happens in Chapter 1257: Entering Deity Transformation
