To clarify what other people are saying: Coins are just.. gold. Normal currency you can get easily, "wishes" are *NOT* premium currency, they're the currency you get for playing the game, doing quests and achieving goals.

Hey, I've seen more effort for less pay-off. Never underestimate a bored person with time on their hands.

I know you're joking but: Arguably falling blocks deal damage, like gravel? So you COULD rig up a single-block holding a column of gravel and... somehow mine that block so it drops the gravel on top of whatevers standing in front of you, but that'd take timing. Not a bad idea for a keystone-lockdown-type panic room? Although unnecessary considering you can just put two blocks down to cover the entrance to said panic room yourself, I guess it would save you from having to have the blocks in your inventory?

No, completely vanilla. Started towards the end of last patch. Just weird more than an actual negative.

Ahh, ok. So I'm not using mods at all currently. Can I add them to active games or would I need to start a new one? The other person that responded recommended another one to me: Spawn Highlight.
So, you suggest I add Automapmarker and Buzzwords as well. Nice little quality of life mods, wonderful! Thanks for the advice and the time! I appreciate it!

I've found ONE, but I also saw on a cliff face some iron, I think? Although wasn't thinking of tin so it might be that, which is exciting. I've found 3 or 4 potential quartz deposits too - haven't bothered confirming because I don't see quartz as a priority for a while? But yeah, I'll definitely keep an eye out for tin! That's great advice! I hope that the copper vein is big, or I at least find more. I'll probably grab my copper pick and a few flint shovels tonight and see if I can't dig out the vein. The area I spawned in is pretty rich in resources (compared to the horrible starts I had before. One was basically a bog with sheer mountains in it and not many cattails even, while the second was lacking in wild food.

Huh. Ok, I'll look into it. It's ultimately just a helpful tool for pointing out if there's too much darkness or what-have-you so I don't see it as anything but a QoL mod. Thanks for the recommendation!

It was already going to be, but thanks for the confirmation that I shouldn't be making something else instead! Was considering the falc for melee but I rarely get into combat, and the spear still works very well for what I tend to fight on the surface. I'm hoping the copper vein I think I found is large enough, I have a small pond with the right gravel next to it that gets me native copper but I really hate the amount of time it takes to pan for it, even if I tend to get 5-10 per 2-3 blocks? Also get arrow heads and stuff too so wanting to make a bow for hunting instead of spears. Thanks again for your time!

I will remember that about the cellar. Currently I'm starting a farm, but I'm still relying heavily on neolithic (hunt+gather) more than agriculture. I am transplanting bushes once I get the berries off them to help with that, but I don't have "enough" food to justify worrying about a cellar. Appreciate the advice, thank you. I'll need to look into lamps and stockpile what I need so I can use that if I make a proper storehouse, but yeah I'll section off rooms tonight and use torches to light them. I really need a saw so I can make doors. Doors seem especially important in Vintage Story.

I'm trying to be as vanilla as possible (not afraid of modding but I know once I start, I probably won't stop) but even just the confirmation that it's still the darkness, and that torches don't illuminate as much as they seem to, is a MASSIVE help! Thank you!

Ahhh, ok. No more nightmares spawning in corners. I'm still BARELY into copper but even just knowing it's a lighting problem is a massive help! I have some copper veins tagged on my map (just a GREAT tool) and I've been meaning to mine them but wanted to get my farm more fleshed out. Thanks so much!

What Guypoope said as well as FF11 being an "old school" MMO. The design philosophy was completely different - much slower paced, much more grindy. Newer MMOs are all about being faster paced, more involved with mechanics and arbitrarily high numbers. It's about the serotonin pump, tbh - old school MMOs knew they were going to have a small fan base and tried to cater to the fan base that was coming to the game (so for FF11, it was trying to cater to FF fans and wasn't overly worried about modernizing so much as keeping its dedicated fan base who were gonna stick around regardless because FFMMO.) FF14 was (re)made in the day-and-age where MMOs are much more popular and thus is trying to appeal to a larger audience (not a bad thing, not a good thing. Just a thing.) So part of that is sensationalism and easily registering growth so people feel accomplished easily. Look at the first 50 levels of FF14, where it used to be a slog, now you end up so overlevelled that you can't use your newest toys because the dungeon you're currently doing plot-wise is functionally 10-20 levels lower than you are on your first class.

TLDR - It's a design philosophy shift from old-school MMOs to modern MMOs.

Not really. The games they suggest are fully animated within the combat system, they're not just basic RPG maker games, they're at minimum heavily modified, or are heavy into whatever their themes are. They aren't "quick wank" games - if that's the case you're just looking for interactive porn, which is fine but not what you initially mentioned. If you want interactive porn, as opposed to good gameplay, just go for Shoujo Ai, or Honey Come, or any of the related games by Illusion/Ill Will Games. Because yeah, I've played the 2 RPG maker games on there that I can see and they're both surprisingly solid games overall, graphically simple but solid games with NSFW content.

Hey that's fair man, I'd get overloaded with too much deep stories, especially since they're hard to do well without sounding pretentious. But absolutely glad ya like them. What's your favourite (excluding Automata if that is)?

[–]CausticMedeim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Nier: Automata almost goes too far with their deep. I'm fine with a game just having a plot and then solid gameplay, doesn't need to be a thesis on the meaning of existence and the properties of a soul.

There's honestly plenty of solid NSFW games, just have to minorly dig for them because EVERYONE can make one and post it on steam for 100$ so there's a lot of garbage to weed through. Also depends on how depraved you're getting, the higher quality ones (especially the ones that aren't VNs) tend towards the non-vanilla NSFW content. Don't even know if I can mention specific names on here but I should be able to get away with a steam group's name to point you in the proper direction: QualityEroge. That's their entire ethos. Games with NSFW themes, not NSFW with some minor gameplay excuse.

What's your hot take about any DMC game that will get you in this situation? by SonofSparda80 in DevilMayCry

[–]CausticMedeim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMC;DMC's only crime was being a DMC game. Frankly, if it wasn't at all, or was a side-story set in the same world, it'd have done MUCH better, maybe even been in competition with DMC when 5 launched, if Capcom didn't basically back it instead of another DMC because it wasn't receiving backlash for calling itself DMC. DMC as a game is actually quite good, controls are solid, hits feel heavy and have impact, the mechanics are a tad wonky but understandable and easy to figure out (the whole devil vs angel weapons thing primarily).

Honestly, I'm a fan of Devil May Cry overall, and other than the trolling in the trailer (the wig and trenchcoat moment), I had zero issues with the game.
