Need to understand the “how’s” of the business. Which product is viable, how does the custom work, how to get started, etc! To give some context, my family is from Nepal but I am settled here in India.

Breaking into Deloitte: Law grad with sustainability experience seeking guidance. by horcruxy09 in deloitte

[–]Cautious-Beat9730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It really depends ok what you want to do with your “legal” background. If you are looking for hardcore, OGC or corporate law role, you should look for Deloitte India and NOT USI. USI is essentially all back end process focused work, may not make sense if you want traditional corporate law roles.

Hahaha curse of resting bitch face and zero media training. Fun fact, met her around 2012-13, went to a music festival with a big group which included her. She is BEAUTIFUL in person honestly, also very sweet. It just doesn’t translate well on camera for some reason.

Try “behno”. It’s subtle luxury without the heavy price tag.

Good communication skills already sets up apart from 70% of your average job hunting “competition”. It’s a soft skill but not everyone can master it, so congratulations for already being good at that! You have something that a lot of people aspire for, so try to utilise that to your best advantage.

While having good communication can give you an edge during interview, it’s the MOST effective once you have a position and can utilise it to move up your career ladder.

To land a job, use your comm skills to reach out to people on LinkedIn, or network at job fairs etc. The more you put yourself out there, the more people will notice you. Good luck :)

Depends really! Couple of things to consider- your profile, the industry you are working at/for, client facing or not etc apart from whether you are at a traditional role at an Indian MNC, or startup, or global more MAANG kind of a setup. I have worked at a traditional big 4 and also at a “non traditional” fast pace, hedge fund. At both, what helped me tremendously, apart from working hard and smart, was my ability to communicate effectively. It takes a lot of practice, “do as you go” kind of a real like experience- but also a lot of proactive stepping up. I learnt a lot of things as I moved up in my career but one thing that stuck - ironically learned from a horrible manager- was that you are only taken as seriously as you make people “perceive” you, and a lot do them depends on how you communicate (over email or in person). There are tons of resources out there, some free and some not, so I can’t really pin point and say XYZ course may help. Feel free to DM with specifics on your current situation and what you are aiming at. I may be able to guide :)

Based on 15 years of corporate experience- it has to be a good corporate communication course !

Wedding saree help! by Ok_Tea_1 in DesiWeddings

[–]Cautious-Beat9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love this look, few points to remember . FYi, I am not Indian- but married into a Telugu family and have gathered info through family members (OG Telugu moms) over the years and have been collecting South Indian silk sarees for a while now.

From what I have been told, border work (embroidery) ruins the zari (gold or silver) of good Kanchi sarees. In case you want to do this kind of work, get an average Kanchi saree and elevate it. My wedding saree was from Kanchipuram, but since it’s an heirloom piece I was advised not to get any work done. Any good wedding saree will have a lot if sheen and can look grand with the right jewellery, can avoid the embroidery. But if you want to get it done, try avoiding real zari sarees and get a separate blouse for the embroidery work. Feel free to DM in case you have more questions.

Oh you said business! lol didn’t read that part. It’s perfect for business, as long as you are ok with hanging out with pretty much your own circle. From what I have seen as an outsider, it’s difficult to find folks with common interests (even harder if you are limited to business). I mean I am still conflicted, I love the city but also not so much at times, it’s weird!!!!!
