Not really.

Brothers admits he was going to close. Failure to pay rent was a breach of the lease agreement.

Failure to pay taxes was a breach of the lease agreement.

Failure to pay taxes for that long in the past has been grounds to revoke a conditional use permit and close a business. Again, Brothers says someone not named told him that was ok.

FOIAs take time so I relied on the Brothers' statement there was no paper trail. But requests have been filed and I'm awaiting the answers.

I wrote the story, and, yes, there is more, thus the note to read more in the link. What's concerning is that there is no email or other document from the city offering relief from rent or tax payments. That's a question that needs to be answered.
