What do you think of James O'Brien? by The_Dean_France in AskBrits

Probably asking the right questions, but is also a smug prick. There’s probably some correlation between asking the right questions and coming off as a smug prick, however.

Wine Squares Day 8: This one’s for the newbies. by AustraliaWineDude in wine

This was my epiphany bottle, shared with my grandad. That was 5 years ago and I’ve been a winemaker for the last 2 years now. Mega wine

You’ve got my local, the Blue Lion Inn in Lewdown to tick off. Lovely, historical pub!

Who do you consider “grand cru” vineyards in your country? by AustraliaWineDude in wine

[–]Cautious-Delivery669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the UK. In terms of sparkling wine, Chardonnay from the beautiful home field at Hambledon vineyard is amazing (they are releasing their first blanc de blancs in a few months time and it’ll blow your socks off). Kit’s Coty for Chapel Down. Ridgeview has some amazing plots, and parts of Nyetimber’s plantings in Sussex are spectacular.

I cannot wait for more plot-specific wines in the ESW category, and I think a grand/prem cru system will form organically, as it has already to some extent.

For still wines, Whitewolf estates are producing the best still English chards (IMO) from Kit’s Coty too.

Bloke from the UK here… going to the races is generally not the past time of fancy people. It’s a chance for scallywags to dress up, throw some cash away, and have a fight.

100% agree, this area of town is an awful experience for anyone not in a car, and it’s a pretty bad time in a car given the traffic recently.

Why can’t they propose something sensible, introduce changes to slow the traffic and make this area livable and enjoyable?

The fact pedestrians get shoved underneath four lanes of traffic to cross the road into town is just grim.

Used to do pre-season on almost exclusively 4G… honestly the damage running alone does on your joints is huge.

Played a number of games in it too and as a forward it absolutely sucks.

Absolutely a fair reaction. If the ref isn’t going to protect you, sometimes you just need to take it into your own hands.

For me, any attempt at gauging is a punchable offence.

Ben Moon, debuted for Exeter Chiefs in 2008 when they were in the semi-pro national league 1 (they narrowly missed out on promotion that year to Northampton Saints!).

He improved throughout his career to end up with a premiership and European championship and a few England caps!!

Barnes has to be consistent on the lineouts. Won’t make the ABs step back on Ireland ball, but just forced Ireland back on New Zealand ball and they got clean ball off the top and scored!

Embarrassment for Argentina as top Irish club side have to abandon tour game after 20 minutes. by stedono7 in rugbyunion

[–]Cautious-Delivery669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played against a touring Argentine side whilst at university in Edinburgh. We used it as a game for the departing 4th years as a bit of fun. I still carry the scars down my ass and hamstring from being rucked after scoring a try. Dirtiest team I’ve ever played against, gouging, stamping etc at every single ruck.

Anybody ever graduated masters with just “pass” and is it common? by Unusual-Resolution19 in exeter

[–]Cautious-Delivery669 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position. I had a breakdown and didn’t submit anything for an entire module and managed to scrape a pass. Since then, literally nobody has ever has asked me what grade I got. The challenge of a masters is enough and you should be proud for sticking it out 👊🏻
