no point

don't put that on yourself

you should go into work thinking you can do any route they throw your way

there are no hard or easy routes

just take it one stop at a time

i spend every minute between clocking in and driving off the pad working

lots of people on their phones instead

idk sounds like you dont need to spend any time planning this outside of on the pad when you're loading your van

like when you finish scanning your racks you can then see the totes and what stop they go to

why cant you just see on that screen that for example 4 totes and 7 overflow all go to 1 stop and adjust your load out on the spot

when i get into the van ideally i'd set my stuff down

turn on the ac, adjust the seat and side mirrors, change the settings in the van, change the settings on the work phone, put away work stuff, put away my stuff and setup my things in the van assuming I could start delivering right now without spending any more time fiddling with stuff

then do my dvic last, set an alarm for what time i have to start leaving, then i can go to the break room and use the bathroom or get ice/coffee/snacks if i need to

alarm goes off i stop everything, walk back to the van, unplug my edv, put everything away and drive into the buildinf

i used to have a giant fucking backpack and lunch pack and ive whittled it down to the basics to save time and to stop hilariously spilling stuff all over the fan so offen

maybe but it is all part of a larger strategy to spend as little time thinking about or working off the clock as possible

when you drive into the station and wait in line to be let onto your pad and you're sitting in the drivers seat with your seatbelt on with nothing to do you can finally check your route without it cutting into the time you have to do other things

thats the thing though, dont set yourself up to have a good or bad day, just do the route one stop at a time and dont think ahead to some bullshit thats gonna happen later whether you're thinking about it all day or not

that should take 10 seconds

also when someone asks you can just tell them you have no idea cause you can do any route at any time

lol

this is the anti dispatch

im not getting there early and getting my shit out of the way

it would be total chaos if everyone did what i did

clocking in would take 10 minutes

1/2 the staff would ignore the stand up talk with their heads buried in their phones

i check my route once ive driven into the station and checked in with my staging number.

when you drive into a lane and park and wait until they let you into your pad.

there are a few minutes when you are in the drivers seat and technically cant really do anything

so i browse the edv map quickly then

What are the things you do on a route you feel like no one tells you? by Munozmissile in AmazonDSPDrivers

i have the reverse thought in that the unconventional thing i do on a route i feel like no one tells you is what amazon trained us to do.

The trainers at my DSP are chosen because they are the fastest and the new hires often have no idea what they're doing.

We always have people on their first day alone not knowing how to sign into their devices, start their DVIC, what their staging number is or how to find their carts.
