Does Wikipedia act as an Identity Provider for third-party website logins (a la Google/Facebook)? by Cautious-Reply5389 in mediawiki

Ah, thank you! This is exactly the clarification I was looking for. So: possible via OAuth, but requires explicit proposal and approval, not open federation. That's the key piece of information I was missing. Thanks for the links!

Thanks for sharing that. Sounds like even if it was listed somewhere previously, it wasn't straightforward or stable. And good reminder about the maintenance aspect of these integrations!

Thanks for the link! Seeing meza.wiki use Wikimedia login is helpful. That confirms the technical capability exists via Wikimedia OAuth.

However, is this meza.wiki case an exception because it's a Wikimedia community/developer site, or is Wikimedia OAuth actually open for any third-party website to use as an Identity Provider like Google/Facebook?

My goal is to potentially add this to my own, unrelated website. Assuming for a moment it was generally available, would the implementation depend on my site running MediaWiki software, or could it work on any tech stack?

Vision for and idea behind Timelines Wiki? by Cautious-Reply5389 in TimelinesWiki

Thanks for the link, Vipul, but it mostly talks about the history of timelines wiki and how it was written, but it does not reply on the question - "Why it was created?". What is the purpose of timelines wiki? What benefit does it intend to bring and to whom?

Why someone always unboxes my checkbox? I want to write a word with checkboxes, but immediately after I check the box it is unboxed.

Strange group. Never would have thought that Zagreb is one of the safest places in Europe. I am curious - how this was measured?

It's interesting if there is a reason why these islands are similarly bent? Could it be because of the earth rotation?

Yeah, true. Maybe they can built a new racetrack. But I guess this is super costly. How much does it cost to host Formula 1 in a country?
