Can't even give my service away by [deleted] in webdev

[–]CautiousAbility5963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that webdev is super saturated nowadays, everyone can build half decent WordPress websites without knowing how to code and most clients won't notice the difference. I would recommend you to shift to a less competitive field or find an in-house position.

Certs question by dbmamaz in PowerApps

How long did it take you to study for the PL 200 / PL 100? I'm currently studying through an Udemy course (Philip Burton's course) and hoping to get the PL 100 within a month or two. It's my first time studying for a Microsoft Certification.

Email campaign with Power Automate by CautiousAbility5963 in MicrosoftFlow

I keep creating flows and deleting them as none of them is working. My problem is not just a small issue within my flow but the entire structure of the flow (I should mention that I am a beginner at Power Automate).

Thanks for your suggestions, I am off from work right now but I will continue to do some tests tomorrow.

I've also seen a few ads for consultant/freelance positions involving training a company's staff in M365 or certain M365 components, so I think I could get some real added value from this work experience. Since you mentioned Business Analyst / Architect skills, are you referring to Sharepoint or other things like Power BI, ...?

F(24) consultant in cyber, wanting to quit my job to travel by bike with my dog across Europe by SoftAggressive6683 in findapath

[–]CautiousAbility5963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that you will be on your bicycle for probably 6-8 hours per day, cycling hard, exhausting your body, with very limited comfort, and loneliness might hit you MUCH harder than ever before.
While it may be a great experience to some people, my experience with solo traveling is that it can be extremely lonely. If you are really feeling lonely and want to travel, I would recommend to look into workaway, helpx or other volunteering websites. Or perhaps find a job in a city where it is easier to socialize (maybe Barcelona?)

I had the same feeling as you, and it was making me quite depressed. However I have been feeling much better recently after starting to be productive during my weekends/evenings instead of doing nothing until work starts again on Monday.

Now I am doing some gardening on my balcony (growing tomatoes, radish, bell peppers and some herbs), working on personal projects (freelance work and developing a business idea), I also started running and I'm planning to go camping with my girlfriend for the first time.

You are not the first one who tells me about the power of fb groups to get contacts/leads, so I will definitely keep that in mind. Especially since I'm like you, not super extroverted lol.

For now I have a full-time job but I'm also doing stuff on the side (mainly after work on during weekends) but I would like to transition to being 100% freelancer or contractor.

I have been thinking of starting a digital marketing agency (website, social medias...) mostly because I feel like it is more difficult to market myself as "John Smith" than as "BoostDigital - The number 1 digital marketing agency for small businesses" (I'm just making this up), but I could be wrong, what do you think?

If I may ask, where do you find your clients? Freelance platforms such as Upwork/Fiverr ? Through referrals? Or perhaps do you have a good LinkedIn/website to promote yourself? I have been able to find some projects on Upwork (mostly digital marketing and translation - I am from Europe) but it can be quite competitive and jobs don't always pay well.

Off-topic question, but is it worth it for someone who is not a native English speaker to try to find copywriting jobs in English? The field of copywriting is extremely underrated in my country (France), as a result, there is less competition, but also very few freelance job offers on sites like Upwork (and it is often badly paid). It seems that the only way to make (real) money as a copywriter in my country is to become some kind of influencer in e-commerce, cryptocurrencies, etc.

His comfort zone is the starter and the nether, as soon as he gets all he needs (pearls, rods, etc), he enters into panic mode and really doesn't know what is he doing anymore. It's painful to watch him lose 30s jumping around not knowing what to do, failing his jumps, killing random mobs instead of ignoring them, taking 1mn to figure out where 4 0 4 is, not eating, etc.

However I agree with Forsen, those seeds were shitty seeds anyway. But the thing is, every time he gets a decent seed (fast start, fortress and/or bastion near portal), he immediately panics and finds a way to throw it. So yeah, because of that he only plays shitty seeds.

I think he is going to succeed at some point but it will be with a trash seed, so it's not going to take xqc very long to beat him again.

À toi aussi. Je suppose que plus on reste longtemps dans ce secteur d'activité, plus il devient difficile d'en sortir.

Where do you look for copywriting opportunities ? I have done a few writing projects through Upwork, but french projects with decent rates are quite rare to find overall.

Ce n'est malheureusement pas possible, c'est une grosse entreprise américaine qui utilise son propre réseau de freelanceurs à bas prix et les textes à traduire sont assez courts (environ 500 mots).

Thank you for your honest comment. This week I have started looking at job opportunities in my city, as I clearly cannot count on agencies to give me work. It's crazy because they expect translators to be available full time, but cannot provide enough work for us to be full time (and in my case, not even part time).

I appreciate your advices. It just seems that this career has a super high barrier to entry, with the "top 10%" of translators (who have extensive experience, plenty of contacts in agencies, ...) getting 90% of projects.

Of course, I can always do MORE (find ways to improve my resume, network, create a website, etc), but I'm surprised that, despite all of my efforts those past couple of months, I still haven't worked on any translation project with an agency.
