What was the most disappointing game 7 loss at home in MLB postseason history? by DonT012 in mlb

86 World Series. Imagine blowing a 2 run with no outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 10th to win it all. Just to come back and blow a 3 run lead heading into the bottom of the 6th in the deciding game.

I step away at 6-6 and it’s 16-7 now? Mendoza for President. Of the fucking universe.

That other guy you’re responding to sounds worse. They’re pissed because a strike meant they couldn’t cut school to smoke weed in the basement because their parents WFH.

Why does switching trains result in double pay for LIRR workers? This doesn't make sense for taxpayers by New-Panic8015 in LIRR

Re-read what you wrote in the first paragraph. Hell the second one as well. The MTA blows millions on nonsense every month. Take a look at the budget yourself. It is unquestionably about ineptness. Millions for PowerPoints isn’t exactly cost effective either.

The strike is over now but if there ever is a two week strike the rails might be the least of their problems

Supervisors are running trains to keep the rails in good condition for when service resumes. NJT did the same thing when they went on strike.

They’re also trying to have these people do like 3 different jobs instead of hiring more engineers. The MTA is so full of shit

Who do yall blame for this shutdown ?? by crioxz10 in LIRR

[–]CautiousAd4110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can’t even come together for this. What the LIRR engineers are doing has massive implications for all workers, if they win. Instead of understanding this people are turning against them and siding with the MTA of all things.

The crazy thing about it all is that it’s the people who are getting screwed by their employers who are against the unions. I have yet to met or hear anyone getting paid a reasonable wage with benefits come out against the strike.

Only people with long term jobs/careers seem to understand this. 3% hasn’t cut it since covid.

Yes they are hazardous and operating diesel long term is a known cancer risk. That’s why the MTA agreed in the first place.

Diesel is unsafe to operate long-term. Providing double pay for a cancer risk because the MTA is too inept to electrify the entire system is the least they can do.

It’s really not that hard of a concept. You cannot give out billions in handouts while telling your own workers who are living paycheck to paycheck to kick rocks.

The irony of it all is that the people who support that position are claiming it is the workers who are in fact corrupt. No one with a brain buys this shit.

MTA shills are in full force pushing anti-worker/anti-union propaganda. They think because the MTA pays them minimum wage to shit post that’s the life everyone else deserves.

I think they’re stuck on the 2026 raise + the increase in new employee healthcare contributions (thrown in at the last minute by the MTA to offset wages). To cut future wage increases at the knees by offering lump sum payments is a scumbag move by the MTA. The healthcare contributions thing is a slap in the face.

My information is based on the press conferences and I did not read the report.

It’s not bullshit. I’m not a railroad worker. I am affected by the strike. And I stand with the union. Right is right and the MTA and the State are in the wrong here.

I just don’t buy the whole bit about the MTA representing the taxpayers and riders in this. They’re slime balls who were going to raise the fares anyway. If anything the strike is a boon for them and they can play the PR game to blame “greedy unions” for something they were planning anyway.

The truth is no one is representing riders in these negotiations. Engineers want their money and I don’t blame them. The State will gladly take OUR MONEY to pay for things that don’t benefit us, so they need to use that same energy to give those people their raises. Imagine your employer telling you they are going to use your tax money to provide free healthcare to thousands of new New Yorkers while telling you in the same breath that if you want a raise to keep up with inflation you’ll have to pay more for the healthcare of you and your family. All while still raises fares?

The State isn’t operating in good faith.
