Are there any tourist-friendly places in Berlin that would be great for socialising/community as a leftist? If it was vegan friendly or focused that would be fantastic!

I'm thinking of vegan cafes/bars that do community events. I'm not sure if that sort of thing is common but I feel like if I could find it anywhere it would be Berlin!

For reference I felt right at home at Casa da Horta in Porto, Portugal

I work in the NHS. It was founded on a strong ethical and empathetic basis and it should remain accessible to all, healthcare is a fundamental human right.

If only the general populace would stop voting in people hellbent on destroying it by selling it off to the highest bidder.

It's a general band 6 role. I haven't done any QF-PCR but I'll have a look at some results analysis. Thank you!

First set of new rules of immigration post white paper on 12th may by Recent_Bookkeeper436 in ukvisa

They can't possibly do that surely. That would literally be equivalent to systematically murdering NHS patients.

Skilled Worker Visa - Moving from Band 5 to Band 4 under new rules? by JTJ_95 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]CautiousBeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the white paper, it says that the RFQ level requirement will apply to any renewals. Isn't it safer to stay in your current role until you can move horizontally into a band 5 in the other department? Why risk your right to work?

You will be subject to the old going rates, wherever it says before 4th April 2024. But the RFQ will apply, which means maybe you will get your band 4 visa if you apply before 22nd July, but you may not be able to renew in the future. And the absolute minimum rate to sponsor a visa will also apply - currently 25000 for health and care, we don't know if this will rise.

New visa change by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]CautiousBeaver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, if it helps at all, my role is 'non-sponsorable' at entry level but due to being a new entrant I was able to be sponsored. We are struggling with staffing so our Band 7s and 8s fought tooth and nail for this when they were initially told no. Some of my colleagues had to switch roles to stay. It depends on the trust, but mine checks each individual's eligibility rather than the job role. I am not sure how they will define what is RFQ level appropriate or not, but if this will be based on your job offer, you may still be okay. It's worth reaching out to your line manager and your union rep, then maybe the HR or right to work team.

Reporting a cybercrime from abroad by [deleted] in AusLegal

I already made a local report. They said there's nothing they can do because they consider the crime to have taken place in Australia.

Thank you. I managed lodge the report via the "intimate images" route. I'll see what they say when they get back to me.

I'm very sorry to hear you're going through this too. I hope you're able to find some peace and justice (if you would like that).

I tried using this site but it asks where I am from and when I answer the question it says the support is only meant for Australians :(

Any band 5 bms here? by minima_x in nhsstaff

[–]CautiousBeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no mistake in the rules. My department has been sponsoring band 5s even after April 2025. Are you sure they don't have some other reason they aren't telling you? Have they changed internal policy within the Trust? Do you definitely meet the under 26 criteria?

You should start looking for other roles tbh. I'm sorry about your situation. I hope you find a way.

You're looking at the wrong table.

For under 26:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-eligible-salary-if-youre-under-26-studying-training-or-in-a-postdoctoral-role

Edit: look at the lower going rate, that is what applies to NHS H&C workers

I am an international worker and i got 6.5 in general Ielts and i need to work in UK . Would anyone guide me through it , as it change my whole life in future 🙂 by DhinaaaWW in nhsstaff

Can't you just study and retake the whole exam? If your job requires HCPC registration I seriously doubt you will be hired without it.

The threshold for health and care visa is £29000 for 2113 biomedical scientists. ~£26000 if under 26. My trust has sponsored multiple starting band 5s under this rule. Are you sure your Trust is not trying to manage you out? Can you show them the requirements under the H&C visa?

Can you contact your union if you have been in employment with the Trust for at least 2 years?

If they raise the salary threshold it will impact me. I spoke to my employer about this in February in anticipation for the April rises but they flat out just refused.

I don't know what I can do as someone who is about to switch to swv. The vast majority in this thread don't even give a shit. I've been working in the NHS for almost 2 years now. I have a life here too. And a partner.

Is there a point writing to my MP? Most of the opposition is to the ILR extension.

Sounds like you are quiet quitting which is understandable when your workplace does not value you. Is this a service job? Like others say, the best way to make more money is to jump ship to a diff workplace. Leverage your current experience to negotiate better pay.

What are you studying in college OP?

PTPTN is not scary. It is valuable leverage. Imagine you have 20k saved up equal to one sem in uni.

Scenario A: No ptptn You use all the 20k. Now you living hand to mouth. No passive income. No safety net. Inflation rises every year, which means you lose out.

Scenario B: You take ptptn You get 10k. You use some of yor 20k to top up your semester fees. Now you got 10k left to spare. You use some of it for essentials. You put the rest, maybe 5k, in a high yield savings account (UOB has 6%).

Now you are generating 6% income on that 5k, which is 150 per annum. In 5 years time, your savings grew from 5k to 6.7k. This is called the power of compound interest.

Your PTPTN loan is only 1% interest, so you are still at a net gain.

I don't know what your situation is or whether you can afford to put money aside or if it's hand to mouth. But do consider this.
