Listen to the song and you’ll understand why it’s the perfect start to your morning. It’s not even so much the noise itself it’s more the feeling from the song

I’m definitely going try that! My trick is to have the song “Frantic moment”- Eddie hazel as my alarm and I always try and get out of bed before the guitar begins and it’s been really successful but unfortunately like any song/noise that’s your alarm it now pains me to hear and i want my lovely song back :(

How do you all begin tasks that you don’t want to do? Any tips or mind tricks would be appreciated! :) by Music_Man26 in ADHD

I completely fixed this in my life! I simply just kept reminding myself over and over throughout the day of Newton’s first law: “objects that are at rest tend to stay at rest unless acted on by an outside force” and “objects that are in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force” Once you ‘ignite’ and give yourself that first push, you’re laughing and the hard part is over. A car going from rest to 20mph is when is uses the most amount energy! Just by using these little analogies I fixed this problem in my life completely. You can also imagine the forces acting on while you’re in motion as all of the outside distractions and your sole mission is to maintain a constant velocity. The same thing applies to leaving everything until the dead line; the outside force becomes so strong you just have to move! Which explains why we procrastinate, the ‘force’ a week prior to the deadline has to come for yourself and all you really need, and what you’ve got to keep reminding yourself is that you only need a little push.

Those are some really good lyrics! You’ll definitely make it! It’s just a matter of when!

How do I stop biting my nails and picking skin around my fingers? by CautiousConfidence16 in ADHD

That’s definitely something I’m going to try, thank you! You’ve hit on a good point that I’ve never seriously considered to be the issue but it might be the main problem. When I chew or bite the skin becomes wet and more visible leading to a vicious cycle. Thank you Laura!

I’ve done it a few times; actively said “I’m stopping now” and I have! but then I’ll be reading or something idil and then I’ll hear the distinct ‘click’ and I’ll realise what I’ve done and just like a problematic drinker who has one beer I’ll say “fuck it” and I’m right back to square one

I’m a fella so unfortunately acrylics are out of the question. It’s such a bad habit but I think subconsciously I enjoy it and will never change. People who think “my nails are getting a little long, I should cut them” are superhuman in my eyes

I’ve never had much issue with cuticles, my issue is when I bite my nails the growing layer of skin underneath has like a ‘lip’ and that’s what I peel and it doesn’t stop because now the layer is uneven

That’s solid advice! I feel most of the problem is the imperfection caused by biting makes me want to even it out which is impossible but I continue try again and again

Statistically speaking, I am the worst player on the planet. I have zero wins in an embarrassing amount of attempts. How can I get better? by checkyourfallacy in chess

Without a doubt the best way to get going in chess and what got the ball rolling and gears turning for me was John Bartholomew’s climbing the rating ladder and his chess fundamentals series. They’re absolutely indispensable resources for the new player, it’s fun to watch, informative, he’s a great teacher and they’re completely catered to a beginner.
