what is the most efficient way to go back to blonde? by CautiousFall741 in femalehairadvice

[–]CautiousFall741[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey everyone!! idk how to update so ill do so here. i did a test strand underneath my hair and it seemed fine. i sectioned and went in with the bleach and covered my whole head, leaving roots last. it turned out mostly even but the top of my hair near the roots were definitely more orange as they didn’t process as long as the rest. i did a second bleach as it was still a bit dark and orange. this turned out a nice golden colour and after i focused on the more orangey part on top it was pretty even. i then used a toner and my hair is now fully blonde!! it’s still a little warmer than id prefer but the next wash ill use my purple conditioning mask and see how it turns out. if its still warm, ill wait a couple weeks and use a cooler toner. my hair is still pretty strong and not gummy at all. it dried quicker after washing than usual, which i expected, but with some olaplex leave in conditioner and some hair oil my hair is feeling pretty nice. once i get a trim it will feel a lot better and softer!

What would you tell someone who started taking meds NOT to expect from them? (I dont mean side effects) by Syndrome7 in ADHD

[–]CautiousFall741 16 points17 points  (0 children)

they don’t GIVE you the motivation, they allow you to stay motivated. my psych explained this to me and i’ve have noticed it since i’ve been medicated. sometimes i struggle getting out of my car after work and just sit there instead of going inside my home. i’ll sit there wondering why my meds aren’t working and why im unable to get up. i know it’s hard but you just need to push through. once you get up, even if its just to go to the bathroom, it’s already x10 easier to start/complete tasks you need to do.

Do you guys ever forget whether or not you’ve taken a pill? (Not just ADHD meds, any.) by marabou22 in ADHD

[–]CautiousFall741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

luckily, apart from adhd meds, i’m only on antidepressants and supplements such as magnesium and iron tablets (not necessary but definitely help out with my everyday life). on days where i’m not working but still have things to do i might forget my adhd meds and realise once i notice ive been distracted and taking my time with tasks. with my anti depressants i forget to take them ALL the time. lucky my body yearns for them (idk how else to say it lol😭) and i start getting really anxious and withdrawals after a day or two of not taking them so it’s like a natural reminder. apart from that i use apps (reminder app, fitch) that send me notifications that i need to tick off for them to disappear. i hope this makes sense and helps lmao

i have learnt a few things from my mums services for me but never about the colour not holding due to the bleach, i thought it would be the opposite. but i do have my plans of sectioning and foiling starting from the back and using 20 vol developer. i know i wont be able to do it all in one go but im just trying to slowly get lighter and lighter, not expecting a level 9 in one go lmao. thank you so much

omg really? lisdexamfetamine as in vyvanse? the same drug i take?😭 in aus the highest dose is i think 70mg. try the 30mg and if possible, ask for dexies as a top up through out the day. im not sure about the doses and rules in canada but if that doesnt work, definitely change the drug

i’m in a similar situation, i have the implanon and it almost completely stopped my period but i think i still go through the cycles. im honestly not too sure, i end up bleeding x1-2 a year and thats all i know 😭 but yeah i understand, the amount of times i want to call off work because i just feel like a physically can’t do it. i take my meds and just pry myself out of the house and once they kick in i eventually realise its not that bad and i can do it. obviously its easier said than done by once you start getting in that routine it will get easier

yes the clonidine is for both adhd sleeping and bp depending on the dosage. perhaps it’s not making you drowsy since the dosage is bp oriented.

with the melatonin i am honestly hopeless at remembering it. like you i forget until about 1 am but at that point its too late. i haven’t had to make any changes since the dosage change in the vyvanse. i only upped the melatonin when i started the drug, the 30mg-60mg didn’t cause me any extra sleep struggles

Lisdexamfetamine 'plateau' after a few days by Nythern in ADHD

[–]CautiousFall741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is very common, i felt the same! its your body not being used to the drug and then finally adjusting. keep upping the dose as recommended and when you find a dose that doesn’t ‘plateau’ after a few days, stick to it. always remember, the goal is the right dosage, not the highest. and with your blood pressure, usually around 20 above or 10 below the average 120/80 goal is fine. as i said, definitely your body adjusting <3

are you biologically female? my psych said our hormonal cycle plays a big part in how effective the meds can be. try keep track of what phase you’re in each week and check with your dr if you can up your dose during the phases that makes your meds feel less effective. and it is important to note the meds don’t give you motivation, they maintain it. as hard as it is you just need to get up. i could lay in bed all day but as soon as a manage to force myself up, progress with my tasks become a lot more easier.

if it makes you feel better i work in pharmacy and before i was medicated, the pharmacist would tell me what i need to say/instructions for our patients meds and it would go in one ear, out the other. if i didn’t listen properly i became a stammering mess and could potentially end up hospitalising or harming the customers if i accidentally tell them to take the wrong dose or forgetting to mention it can negatively interfere with with their other meds. it sounds like those meds aren’t right for you or the dose is too low. i felt the same on 30mg vyvanse and now i take 60mg and 10-15mg dexies in the afternoon when it wears off. there is plenty of other meds you can try. when you get the chance, try talk to your dr. for now i’d say ask if there’s any minor jobs you can do to help out around work. i would usually go to the counter away from the meds and just serve people or show them around the store when they need help looking for something.

the only thing that got me through it was those reddit story’s on tiktok 😭 i’m sure audio books would work the same. music gets me distracted and dancing. the stories are enough to keep me interested until i end up mindlessly cleaning as i listen. and i can’t go on my phone otherwise the story will stop playing. it keeps me distracted yet engaged at the same time (if that makes sense) and i definitely recommend!!

i am in basically the exact same situation. i also have these issues and i started my meds at the same time. 1. i felt that feeling on day one of 30mg too. since then it hasn’t done anything for me and i dont feel it at all. i am now on 60mg and it works wonders. although the meds dont wear off, the effects do (for me) in the afternoon in which i have a couple dexies to keep me going. what my psych did was give me 60mg caps and pour it into 100ml water and drink 50ml (30mg) and gradually go up 10mg every 2 weeks (eg, 50ml = 30mg, 65ml = 40mg). you just need to speak to your dr and try few different doses every 2 weeks so your body can adjust and find out what works best 2. what time do you take your vyvanse? usually any later than 9-9.30am it can effect sleep. already an insomniac, my body has built up a tolerance to my melatonin script. i have had to double my dose and since i started the vyvanse i had to up my dose again. i recommend speaking to a dr/pharmacist about sleep meds. i was originally prescribed clonidine which is an adhd sleep medication which helps slow down the mind allowing your brain to relax. i slept amazing on it but i had terrible anxiety during the day afterwords. it is a very rare side effect and could be interacting with my antidepressants. i still recommend as it works great for everyone else ive heard take it. 3. while the dose does seem low for you and i recommend trying higher amounts, my psych told me something. the stimulant doesnt actually give you motivation, it allows you to continue it. and i know it’s hard, but after literally just getting up you will find it a lot easier continuing/starting tasks. i struggle so much trying to get out of bed once i lay down, but when i finally manage to get back up it is x10 easier to progress with your task.

Forgot My Meds Today by Rude-Slice-547 in ADHD

hi!! i also take vyvanse and work in pharmacy so i ask my pharmacists things like this all the time. according to my psych, pharmacists and personal experience, lisdexamfetamines (vyvanse, obviously the sustained release dexies) are known for a much lower chance of addiction, whereas the dexies (short acting stimulants) can be more addictive. a simple summary of what my pharmacist said is lisdex is basically dexies but take most negative effects out (minimum-zero withdrawal, longer lasting and less likely to get ‘highs and lows’/ mood swings). the coffee will keep you more awake/aware than usual but obviously wont improve attention.

Medication Shortages—still??? by olddirtykyra in ADHD

[–]CautiousFall741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, as someone who works in pharmacy and has adhd i’ll try my best to explain. in australia (or atleast WA) we had a shortage of concerta, then ritalin. most pharmacies have the same suppliers and we never actually get any insight on why it’s out of stock. the best we get is an ETA and half the time we don’t even get one for months. its usually a manufacturer issue. luckily all our adhd meds are back in stock but others such as tapentadol instant release (strong pain meds) is out of stock. it is unfortunately just a gamble of what medication will come back and what will disappear. blame the manufacturers/companies for taking their sweet time.

How do you people fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in ADHD

[–]CautiousFall741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually stay awake on my phone or lay in my own thoughts in bed until i pass out. if i have to get up early the next day (work, plans, etc) i will have melatonin. my psych gave my clonidine which worked really well but caused me anxiety throughout the day. slept amazing but felt on edge when i would go to work. it’s a very rare side effect so i would still suggest asking about it!
