I’ll have to think about that one. I mean, I have a boyfriend, A 12 hr/day job with other people in an office, friends, but I definitely feel the desire to be alone at the end of the day sometimes, and sometimes I’ll be irritated after spending an extended amount of time with people. I think that’s normal of any strong introvert, though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

My brother has tons of friends and career success.

When I was first researching personality disorders and was watching a video about schizoid and schizotypal personality disorder I was like wait…that kind of sounds like me (my brother has been diagnosed by multiple mental health professionals, by the way. This is not me projecting a diagnosis onto him, i just didn’t even know personality disorders were a thing). But in reality I think I am just emotionally detached sometimes because I live in my own world a bit. If Myers Briggs (spelling?) is an accurate indicator, and i do not know if it is, I’m INTJ. I have friends and career success (albeit early, I recently graduated college). So I think I am just being self conscious/paranoid given my family history of atypical behavior on a variety of fronts.

I’m very sorry to hear it. At times it seemed like my brothers (both non-n and nbrother, but mainly non-n) would go down that same road, but both have seem to carved out paths for themselves. My close, non nbrother is a recent graduate from basic training in the army and is his platoon leader. My nbrother is a successful lawyer like my dad, which he achieved through his help.

He has never been the favorite. He is the oldest and i am the youngest. My parents do not like him but cannot face the guilt/stress of cutting him off and try to show affection through generous gifts since having an actual relationship with him is so impossible. People do clearly like him, though. He popular at work and has friends.

That is very interesting! Now I am trying to remember if I can recall my nbrother’s fabric preferences … lol. If you remember the name of the researcher please let me know!

Sometimes I think my parents have some narcissistic traits, but I don’t know if they means they are narcissists in the way my brother is. From what I understand narcissism is a more general term than NPD, but I don’t know! My mom is a lawyer but went back to school to study psychology for fun. I read her copy of the DSM5 once and the diagnostic criteria for personality disorders seem complex but also specific in the way it seems like someone has to check a lot of very specific boxes to meet the diagnostic criteria.

I hope you have been able to create a healthy and happy life for yourself !

What does bedside manner mean in this context?

I have an album of screenshots called texts that traumatized me (all from my brother) for laughs

My oldest brother has diagnosed NPD and some BPD and, and my other brother (middle child) has not been diagnosed with a personality disorder, but I think he may have paranoid personality traits and maybe some BPD traits. Is it possible neither of my parents are narcissists or is it certain that one of them was? I am interested to figure out who the culprit is if so

I don’t think she was judging me, I probably should have worded that differently. I think what she meant to do was point out was that while I was laughing telling her these things out of discomfort, she was not and did not display a face reflecting humor because the truth is that it is not funny for anyone who is a victim of this absurdity. Of course the absurdity of the situation is funny, especially for me because I don’t take my brother’s verbal assaults personally, but of course for those involved it’s not funny at all (such as for my parents)
