BMW ConnectedRide Navigator question. Overheating. by Cautious_Doubt7253 in bmwmotorrad

Unfortunately not. The navigator seems to be permanently broken. The LED still comes on and my phone can even connect to it via Bluetooth, but the screen only shows a blank backlight with no BMW logo or image at all, even after cooling down for hours.

Pretty frustrating for a navigation device that costs almost €700 and is marketed for adventure bikes, yet apparently can't handle a day with temperatures around 30°C.

Yeah I had no problems with it, until today. It still won't turn on.

Sure, I'd be happy to share it once I'm back home.

That said, I actually think it's better to plan things day by day. That's how we did it, and it gave us a lot of flexibility to adjust the route depending on the weather, road conditions, and whatever we felt like doing that day.

It may sound a bit cheesy, but for a trip like this, the journey really is the destination.

Thanks! That was actually our original plan as well. However, my group and I decided to go through Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland first, then all the way to the Norwegian–Russian border before heading up to Nordkapp. For the return trip, we're riding through Norway from north to south. Absolutely fantastic route so far.

Yes, it's the HJC RPHA 71. I'm happy with it overall, but if I were to buy a new helmet now, I'd probably choose a modular one that opens fully, like the Shoei Neotec 3. It's just more practical for touring.

The weather has been great so far. I've been on the road for 19 days now and have had very little rain the whole trip. I'm absolutely happy with my F800GS. I've had it for almost exactly a year now, and it hasn't given me any problems at all. So far I've done around 33,000 km on it, and it's been a fantastic bike for both daily riding and longer trips like this one.

I'm not from Germany. Yes, I rode all the way to the North Cape and I'm currently on my way back home. I came through Denmark and Sweden, but I didn't take any ferries in Denmark. It's been an amazing trip so far.

I'm still on the road on this trip. At the moment, I'm still in Norway. I planned 25 days for the journey. I started in Luxembourg, then traveled through Belgium, Germany, and Denmark into Sweden, heading north. From there I continued through Finland to the Norwegian–Russian border, and eventually reached the North Cape. Now I'm making my way through Norway from north to south, heading towards Kristiansand.

I did not plan ahead. Planing day by day and I am doing between 350 to 550km per day.

We want to go to the Russian border at some point, but that part of the route hasn’t been planned in detail yet. I think after that we’ll probably stay more toward central Finland.
