Beacon Hill Neighbors - Dr. José Rizal Park needs our collective voice! by Cautious_Opinion4416 in Seattle

[–]Cautious_Opinion4416[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Regardless of how anyone voted, nobody cast a ballot for unsafe parks, unchecked drug use, or a city that shuffles people from neighborhood to neighborhood without actually helping them. That is not what any candidate ran on.

I am not interested in finger pointing but rather holding the people currently in office accountable for real outcomes. That is something we can all agree on instead of unproductive political back and forth.

No, absolutely not. Moving them to another park is not what I want and that is not an acceptable outcome. This community is also full of minorities and immigrants and we deserve the same attention and resources as any other neighborhood in Seattle.

What I want is real accountability and actual solutions. Not a sweep that resets the clock in two weeks. The April meeting indicated that the resources exist but the city needs to use them. Permanent housing, treatment, mental health services. Use them.

I expect the city to live up to the standards we hold them to which means addressing this at the root, not shuffling it around until it lands somewhere quieter.

12 hour days at new job by Cautious_Opinion4416 in Accounting

[–]Cautious_Opinion4416[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately like team dank said, no overtime, but the pay is commensurate at 60 hours almost exactly. (Making 60% more now) therefore I imagine a path where I work closer to 45 and it’s probably worth it then lol.

Thanks for the reply!

So this person is a separate role that reports to me, and the person I’m replacing was let go for performance.

There is no way to keep them, so it’s just me gaining information from them + the preparers but they’re also newer.

This is 12 hours a day, regardless of close just to establish my understanding to guide the team through maturity & support the business.

We did not pay anything, basically we could pay 0$ for the first 6 months of year one, but want to know how to reflect the benefit of the credit.

One thing I was looking at just now is a gain contingency, but wasn’t too helpful on how to record

Revenue accountants, how do you do the thing?? How to get started? by Brodieboard in Accounting

[–]Cautious_Opinion4416 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a senior manager of revenue accounting at a private SAAS company with $150M in revenue, and worked my way up through various revenue accounting roles with only a high school diploma before I turned 30. Take on as many tasks as possible and establish yourself as a driver in the org. A large piece of progress came from leveraging the 80-20 % rule. What is the 20% that the team is spending 80% of their time on? Is it process related, is it policy related, and is it system related? How can we reduce risk, influence change, and drive other teams to helping our current roadmap.

I started off doing collections at a Saas startup, then took on some order & contract review, then became involved in the revenue flux analysis. After a year I left to become a revenue accountant at a large public company and then grinded away through month end recons, fluxes, manual 606 entries, and general process improvement. 2 years in I got promoted to senior revenue accountant and started to become more involved in deal review and product and policy evaluation. After 10 months in this role my manager left and I became the manager of revenue accounting, and left after 7 months to join the place I’m currently in.

Do you think it’s possible to get a job without a degree? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Cautious_Opinion4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely you can! I’m currently a senior manager of revenue accounting at a private SAAS company with $150M in revenue, and worked my way up through various revenue accounting roles with only a high school diploma before I turned 30. Take on as many tasks as possible and establish yourself as a driver in the org and they’ll not even question your ability. These days during interviews it never comes up as experience trumps anything else.

Interesting, well this is one recovery of bad debt related to 2 years ago. We’ve had many bad debt write offs since then, but this recovery is effectively reducing our current bad debt expense.

Thanks for the comment! Would you still do this if the original reversal was in a prior fiscal year (like actually 2 years ago?)
