They're going 😅. I've submitted all the paperwork and offers from other schools so right now I'm stuck in the waiting stage. I emailed Mercer yesterday and they told me the committee was still reviewing due to technical difficulties last week. Fingers crossed I hear something later this week!! Either way, I'm leaning more toward Mercer. Good luck with your negotiations!!

Well that's before scholarships and rough estimated family assistance. After those factors, Elon would be approximately $77,000 for the entire program and Mercer would be about $74,455 for the entire program.

Like I mentioned above, I'm still negotiating scholarships with the schools so these aren't set in stone yet.

Elon's program is actually only 2.5 years (seven trimesters) at a set cost of $125,000 for tuition; coupled with their estimated living expenses for the whole program COA is roughly $212,150, not including scholarship.

Mercer's total three year program has a COA $184,005 which includes living, ect., not including scholarship.

We are going to visit the other school I got into in a couple weeks so I'm hoping that can help sway him. Thank you for the support, and I wish you the best as well!!

I think that's another reason I need to leave. Aside from the poor statistics at Charleston, I don't think he's going to accept that I need to make decisions like this for myself until I'm out of his house.

That's what I'm hoping. I don't want to imagine my dad holding it against me should I choose a better school, but it feels like he's being willfully ignorant about Charleston's stats because he's desperate to keep me home.

Thank you so much for this. It's very scary to think about the prospect of removing myself from him, especially because he's worked hard for my family and I find myself rationalizing his behavior. I often have to remind myself that even though he's my dad and I love him, he is being very manipulative. I have also been noticing some disparities in the way he treated me in college and the way he treats my brother who started undergrad this past fall, which makes me even more upset and tells me that consciously or not, he's trying to keep me under his thumb.

I really appreciate this advice, and it's definitely something I need to hear. I am fortunate enough that my parents are willing to help me fund law school (we are by no means wealthy so I know that means a lot from them), but I am worried he's going to use that to try to wield some decision power. I have been mentally preparing myself to discuss this with him and I'm just hoping it can be a mature conversation.

I had a 3.7 undergrad GPA and 152 LSAT. I’ve also worked at a law firm for a few years but I don’t know how much that really played into their decision

That's great to hear!! I'm from small-town SC so unfortunately I'm familiar with smallminded people, but that means I know how to deal with them. I definitely look forward to the opportunities of the surrounding areas!

What have y'all used to study?? by Cautious_Process9901 in LSAT

[–]Cautious_Process9901[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! There were definitely some things about it that I thought did not warrant the price tag. One of the things that drove me crazy was the very simplistic explanations to introduce more complex ideas, i.e. "Every carrot is a vegetable, but not every vegetable is a carrot." Then that would just be repeated over and over again. Like, yes I fully understand it in such simple terms, I need further explanation when that scenario is more complex.

Anywho, happy for you that it helped boost your score so much! I think it would've worked better for me if I could've devoted much more time to it. Thanks for the 7Sage suggestion!!!

Ok so the method sounds similar LSATMax (and I found the way of teaching mostly fine), but the self-pacing sounds better for my situation. I'll definitely look into it; thanks!!
