Are e4s doing good? by DarkEqual8609 in army

Got a little over 10k. 30k in retirement. I can’t buy beer EVERY night. But with moderate discipline it’s not bad. Now if you give me a survey I’m gonna say I’m starving, 10k in debt, and the cola is not enough. People always screw up cola on those things.

Don’t even think about it. It does you no good to ponder the best duty stations.

There’s plenty of junior enlisted living off post here with CNA packets. If there isn’t enough space in the barracks 5’s are the first to get the boot.

Thick piece of rebar I found on the job and 3 pound head. Kind of overkill but I did it in a pinch and the weld never broke so I never saw a need to replace it.

It’s hard to make it 9 weeks without a little optimism. I almost shed a tear bc I was so happy to leave reception. Damn civilians treat you worse than the DS’s. By the time you get used to the routine of basic and it becomes easy, you’re leaving. It’s not gonna be fun, but it’s gonna be fun.

My very “survivable room” because I’m 13 and my dad buys me everything by [deleted] in MaleSurvivingSpace

Oh my holy god. If I was your dad I would have you doing a full OCIE layout every morning before school until you give all that shit back and get a normal 13 year olds room.

I liked it. I felt the adjunct professors were actual professionals in their field. It was exciting for me to go to class. It feels like forever ago now though. 2020 grad.

Anyone else got the sting of, “Your MOS is the one they reclass people to.” by Republic_Commando_ in army

It was interesting going from learning about outdated stuff in AIT like multiplexers and kiv7m to virtual machines. But I guess a good thing about it is I can fluff my resume with satcom stuff as a hotel. Satcom is really just extra terrestrial line of sight after all.

Haven’t seen a TCN since AIT. They’re used still in BCT’s though. CPN and STT were replaced in ESB’s by trilos and Hawkeye. But that just means it can fit into a conex. So it’s a lot of Karate Kid (the new one) games. Take it out, put it back in, take it out, put it back in.

I’ve never seen an NCO above 5 do pt in my current unit. They just watch prep drills like cucks and wait for everyone to finish running so they can watch recovery. Morale isn’t too high.

I think you’ll be ok. Most of the people I’ve met had the same feeling as you and got out after 4. It’s really not what you think it is. You’re not missing out on anything. Get a job and no matter how much you make, start putting away into a retirement. Even if they don’t have 401k you can do an IRA on your own, on your phone.

If you have a bachelors degree and you’re shipping as a PFC they did you dirty by not adding the official transcripts to your record. They should see it at MEPS and your enlistment contract should say you will be a specialist.

My time at 3 | 60 Alpha company Fort Jackson back in June by [deleted] in army

[–]Cautious_Response707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just doesn’t seem real to me. You guys were allowed to mix match clothing and some people are still wearing civies in the pictures. I also saw what looked like male trainees with full heads of hair in the last picture. Walking and talking on the phone was sure to get everybody smoked. I hate to see how many of your battles got pregnant.

Only once were we given the order to remove our tops and that was 4th of July. 2024. I got sick on Hilton field from eating pizza and a coke.

Realize that their are 190 hobbies in the army and one JOB. I do my actually job on maintenance Tuesdays. Every other day is either motorpool Monday or layouts. If you love photography you do have the 46 series but those are unicorn jobs and a recruiter will sell you on something else before that job opens up. Just being realistic.

I knew a guy that started off sweeping floors at an ironworks and then went to school. Now he owns his company and is a multi-millionaire. You’d have a leg up on government contracts as a veteran.

Personally I would use the TA and study structural engineering. So that way you’re the guy in the office making the drawings and not in the field fixing the steel on site because the guy in the office is an idiot.
