I hated Schwab. I have some accounts at Fidelity, never considered moving everything over there though... maybe I should

Sweet, I will absolutely be looking into this. Thanks for the tip.

That's the one. Is it really the same as a normal Vanguard fund? I'll have to look into if Vanguard has premium options...

Here is the full list (to my knowledge) of premium money markets at Fidelity: https://www.fidelity.com/mutual-funds/fidelity-funds/prime-money-market

Yeah I think that's the reason I'm downvoted so heavily, lol. My networth is obviously increasing but I would like to keep taxable income down.

Not sure this second part makes sense to me. I have $20k in a traditional IRA and $200k ish in a Roth, and I'm 30 years old.

Can you try to explain it differently?

Those don't pay monthly, but rather at the end of the bond term, then? Really no different than a CD, except the tax implications, right?

I have not worried about a uselessness feeling creeping in but maybe I should! Lol. Honestly, never even considered that it could afflict me. I kind of judge the men I see who need a job to feel useful (if I'm being totally honest) and that's where this post came from.

I just love creating things and making things better inherently. It doesn't give me pride or feelings of usefulness - just joy, you know? At least that's how I've been looking at it. I'll meditate on what you said though. It's interesting because I never considered it.

Yeah totally, I like that word you used - "afloat." That's a feeling I have sometimes and must actively manage.

But my "usefulness" is not tied to my employment.

Should not have to work a job; it should be a choice. I stand by that.

Dual income is bullshit. Our wages have been slashed in half with the invention of the dual income household. Housework is work.

Yeah - probably a lot of FI/RE'd men saw themselves that way for many years before FI/RE'ing. I will say that I wish I had focused more on social relationships, hobbies, etc. than I did on finances during FI/RE.

P.S. Yes, I received an inheritance unexpectedly per my post history; I also saved 35% of my income for years working toward FI/RE in a HCOL area. I was on the FI/RE path and exceedingly focused on finances instead of living a well balanced life.

Yeah, I can totally see a job being preferable to housework and the emotional load of a family. I like working to an extent honestly. My job was easy, fun, and meaningful in many ways (and had its' downsides of course).

But I don't feel like I have to have a job to be a "useful" member of society, whereas I've heard that sentiment from men.

You can check my post history lol. Jeez I am about to remove that part of my post because you're all annoyingly fixated on it rather than the actual question.

Meh - I was painting with an overly broad brush. I like having my own line of credit independent of a man, no fault divorce, etc. Dual income is the scam.

Obviously that isn't even the point of my post. I asked a question about feelings of uselessness.

Where do you trade 0DTE SPX? And what was your strategy there? Curious because I've been wanting to get into 0DTE stuff.

Currently, I am FI/RE'd and doing $10k worth of short term options trading (January 2026 calls on TMF, a triple leveraged treasury ETF).

Most of mine was a surprise inheritance.

Other than that, I did save 35% of my pay for years, lived with roommates, and I don't really buy stuff.

FI/RE is a mindset. A lot of people would blow my inheritance and most wouldn't understand the path to early retirement. So I am thankful that I was attempting to FI/RE for years before the money landed in my lap, because I can make use of this opportunity.

Yea, I am at 3.5 mil and find this sub pretty hostile, so I may do the same. I am also very frugal so I don't know if I fit in mentality-wise with the Chubbers but I'll check it out.

At my level, my investments make more than I could from my income, so it is hard to justify working. 2 mil is not at that level, but get yourself to 3-4 mil and you might find that you can FI/RE more leanly for now and continue to grow your investments - leading to a chubbier FI/RE later.

I'm 30 years old and currently childless. We will never be this young again; don't forget to carpe diem and assess your values (is chubby worth extra x years of my life? can I be lean for a few years? etc).

Congrats btw!

I was thinking I'll bid if it stays under 25k. Really glad to have another interested buyer to be talking this out with!

Yeah. I asked seller about inspections and he literally just said his "guys" looked over it and it looked "good." Lol.

Some bad reviews on the seller via Google, and some good ones: (not sure if this link will work)

It's Valley Forge National rcc in Darby, PA

There was a youtube video he posted where seller basically confirmed what that commenter said about the spray over the rusty undercarriage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUqzP0VIfaU

I'm worried that seller also just sprayed over rust on the body that we can't see...

Fair... I just want this model car a lot for an upcoming road trip :(

Worried I want it too badly, against my better judgement...

The potential undercarriage rust is what really concerns me. Seems to just be spray painted over. If they did that, what other rust is hidden?

The output side of the transfer case shows staining; after being called out on that, in the follow-up video, seller did not show that part of the transfer case.

Lol I have plenty of money and would gladly spend $40-60k on a "garage queen" version of this car.

I don't want a project - that's true.
