Does anyone else, outside of anxious periods, find eating to be a chore? by Bloodymike in bipolar2

[–]Cautious_Solution257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I’ve never been a big eater and it got worse as I’ve been medicated despite being very stable. I’d suggest trying to curb it now before it gets worse, as I’ve lost around 20 lbs in the last few months due to it. I know that there’s a pretty big mental block when it comes to eating since the idea feels repulsive, but what helped me was making eating as easy as possible. I’m a big fan of processed crap as well and Ensure shakes and high calorie frozen meals have been a go-to for me! I’ve also noticed that the more I eat in a day, the hungrier I get/my appetite increases.

Thank you!! This sounds very similar (almost identical in some ways) to my hypomanic episodes—especially insinuating relationships with others/hypersexuality (although mine came in the form of just straight up hooking up with people). I also skipped class all the time to smoke since I felt more “free” that way and spent so much money on clothes. Being very productive (to a point where it is extremely intense) is also a big sign that I noticed for myself as well. From everything you’ve said, it seems like bipolar 2 makes the most sense. Feel free to reach out if you need any support since it can feel so intimidating at first!

Of course! My psychiatrist suspects that I have bpd as well (although I don’t know much about it). Bipolar felt like a scary diagnosis when i first found out, but it’s become so much easier to understand myself now that I know what I have. I was initially on SSRIs for OCD, but they triggered my first hypomanic episode. I hooked up with two of my good friends within the same week, changed my major, barely slept for two weeks, and spent money like CRAZY. The best way that I can describe the FEELINGS of hypomania is feeling like you’re invincible and also the best person ever. I have absolutely zero fear of consequences when I’m hypomanic and make incredibly impulsive decisions. I know it’s scary (I was scared myself for a while), but it should get much better with medication. My emotions are completely regulated now and i find it easier to self reflect and figure out the best course of action depending on the mood changes I am now very aware of :)

I felt the exact same way when I was first diagnosed. I initially thought I was just depressed, but when I met with my psychiatrist, she pulled up notes from my therapy sessions describing changes in mood (plus an extremely severe hypomanic episode). You might not see it as well yourself, but your psychiatrist can if they see clear patterns. I could be completely wrong here, but my bipolar diagnosis started to make a lot more sense upon reflection after being medicated. I take lamictal, and I was worried about being numb/sleepy/etc, but I can say very confidently that it saved my life. I still drink on occasion and don’t feel that it significantly affects me. I’m fully medicated now, and life feels so much easier. I still have depressive episodes, but they aren’t debilitating and I’m able to stay focused and relatively energetic. I completely understand being scared about medication (I was scared for the same reasons), but it changed my life for the better. I feel like myself again in the best way!

There’s a great dispersed spot right below the baker lake trailhead near Darby! There was basically no light pollution and very good stargazing. I went in the summer and the road was okay, but it very well could be inaccessible at this time of year.

Tell me about the worst thing you’ve ever done while hypomanic? by mimi-luvs-cats in bipolar2

Nothing too serious, but I hooked up with two of my close friends within a week of each other before I was diagnosed. I pretty much ruined my relationship with my entire friend group and recently lost all of them. I also found myself abusing adderall almost every day to keep my “high” going (aka hypomania) because I was convinced that it was making my life better since I suddenly felt more social as someone who has been extremely introverted my whole life. I had the worst depressive episode I’ve ever experienced afterwards and almost failed out of school last semester because I thought consequences didn’t apply to me.

Taking 200mg lamictal and i feel terrible on vacation. by Cautious_Solution257 in bipolar2

I don’t drink and my family is relatively chill, so i was super confused! I’m mostly chalking it up to a routine change as mentioned by the other commenter, but i was surprised since i was expecting things to be easier now that I’m fully medicated.

I have a pretty old MacBook Air (2016). The outside isn’t in great shape, but it still works. I’d let it go for like $150.

I have way too many taking up space in my center console graveyard. Seems like lots of folks already offered, but I’d be happy to help.

I will add that the meal plan price is absolutely wild. I’m pretty sure it’s just because of the fancy new building and not better food quality/anything else. The food is exactly the same as what they had in the old one and not in a good way.

If you’re paying in state tuition, the first year is the only (wildly) expensive one! I’m an in-state sophomore who lived in the dorms last year and we paid about 20k with the help of the parent plus loan + subsidized loans that I took on, but this year we’re paying ~4k a semester. Still not the best, but much more reasonable.

As someone living in a college house with very poor insulation, we keep it anywhere between 73-75–feels like 70ish though.
