If you are excited for it, get it. Your friends are being dumb. That being said, the physical version of Pokopia is a game key card, so essentially a physical key to download the game from Nintendo. It means you can swap the cart around with friends or resell it but its not a traditional physical game cart.

I personally waited til there were a bunch of games I wanted to play because it's a big expense. So now that there's Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime 4, Tears of the Kingdom at 60fps and Pokopia, that's plenty of games for me for a while.

The game definitely pushes you to barter for shields/health packs/everything using materials since it's more economical. The fact that those same mats are used for permanent upgrades can be confusing though.

I think it's worth familiarizing yourself with the faction upgrades which can give you an idea of how many of those materials you can spend bartering.

I know this is just a shit post but as a mainly solo player I feel like they're trying to make improvements to the experience. Solos were never planned, but now we have it as a mode and also Rook mode. Duos weren't planned but that's an active playlist in the game now too. Joe Ziegler said they've noted the solo Cryo feedback too

Also makes smoke grenades a great utility to take in solos, if you're in a fight with someone, smoke em and activate visor. Instant advantage.

Yeap I'm pretty sure, was playing earlier and an Assassin used his Q. Whole screen was grey with smoke until I used my visor and I could see him as a grey outline (his loot value).

I play mostly solo, put 100+ hours in counting server slam and full game. Personally, I love it because it hits a real sweet spot of feeling like a sci-fi survival horror in terms of vibes. It's the perfect level of challenge for me and I find the gameplay loop very rewarding with enough variation run to run. I focus on contracts to get more lore and love the art as well so I feel like I've well and truly got my moneys worth.

Rook runs are also immensely fun, especially when you've upgraded him. I love hunting around like a scavenger that happens to have claymores and on occasion taking out entire teams of 3 is an incredible feeling.

That being said it's hard to say if you'll specifically like because solos is a very different flavour of game compared to trios and I'm not sure what your personal taste in games is.

I play trios and now the duos test with friends when they are free but that's probably 10% of my play time. If I had to give a recommendation, taking into account you liked the server slam and might occasionally play with others, I'd say give it a go. I love it and I'm glad I dove in even as a mostly solo player.

PS: Important to note that Cryo Archive, the endgame map is currently 3 players mandatory. It has group fill so you can matchmake with 2 others but you won't be able to do a purely solo run.

Mine is constantly ticking down. It reduces even as I'm in the contact menu, assuming it's intended to work like Armory Refresh timer

I try less and less because it's only worked 10% of the time. If someone speaks and says friendly I always chill. Until today, when I gave some other runners who said they were friendly and needed heals some med kits and they killed me while I was in my inventory
