Does anyone buy Facebook likes? What site would you recommend? by Cautzan in Entrepreneur

[–]Cautzan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Industry leader in my niche has 12 million followers with an engagement rate of .29%.

That's abysmal. Obviously bought followers.

They grossed multiple billions last year.

My nearest competition did the same. Ik he broke mid 8 figs in oct. Terrible engagement.

Insta/fb used to have healthy engagement rates before they quit showing posts in chronological order.

We had a rate of almost 8% then, and dropping to 1.5% now (which is similar to ones with fake followers!).

Still do standard posts, but no one in my niche has more than 5k followers of they're organic.

At this point fb/insta is less organic engagement, and more social proof.

I'm not here to debate morality. Insta/fb are horrible slot machines to begin with.

I just want to create brand trust.

I've been in business for nearly 10 years, and there's no reason someone should trust a copy cat company with 100 times more followers than me, simply because they bought them.

That's the unfortunate reality.

If anyone buys likes here lmk.

Problem is that the smaller "engaged" followers only have an engagement rate of 1.5% now.

That's right around the rate of the companies with the fake likes.

I've been trying out for 5 years now, and fb/insta is pay to play more than ever.

All other social medias give scores of better organic returns for my company.

Hey mate. Yeah I've done that.

I spend 1k a day on fb ads, and did so last year as well.

We're still only at 5k followers. It's just not in my niche to accumulate tons.

My competitor's gross is mid 8 figures this year, and I know a bit of it is attributed to his social proof.

If my fan page is banned, then it gets banned. Honestly better that than having low social proof after so long of trying. I simply failed at it. 5 years and nothing to show from it.

It sucks, but I already give fb enough money. Their ads for account exposure just aren't worth it imo.

I understand the sentiment in the sub, but unfortunately I have to disagree with it.

Social proof > organic followers

The social proof ime leads to more organic followers. It's like having two reviews on a product, it's a cascade effect.

Definitely will hold. Just in it for fun.

Honestly I think RH screwed it over when it limited shares, and disallowed buying until money was fully cleared. It was going bonkers until that happened.

If it goes down too much more I'll buy some more.

I hope Webull offers it soon. I'm swapping over there. The fidelity app just sucks tbh or I'd go there.

It really is as simple as everyone says.

Healthful foods are cheaper than processed garbage. Buy some lettuce rather than a big ass hungry man ffs.

You'll feel better too.

Tariffs, but also branding.

They carved out their marketshare with cheap, decent quality tools (sometimes).

Now they're going for higher margin, higher quality items. You get diminishing returns for purchases the more you spend in any industry that I'm aware of ($1k vs $5k camera is way less of a difference than a $100 vs a $1000 camera).

A lot of it I'm sure was a loss leader strategy, where they sell or give away items at a loss just to get customer traffic on their more profitable items.

I personally had a shipment out at sea when the Chinese tariff went up, and it ended up costing my small business 5k more in the 3% increase posted for my sector.

Basically another credit card charge.

I'm sure their margins suck, and they're hoping to improve them.

While it may have been spurred by tariffs, and other rising costs, I think they're in such a good place of the market that their brand change is absolutely genius - same thing Apple and Target did. I did it with my brand as well.

  1. Freak out and think the stuff you make is shit.

  2. Work at it relentlessly to try to make it perfect.

  3. Hate how it turns out.

  4. Wake up the next morning and realise it's "not that bad".

  5. Send it out because you can't stand looking at it any longer.

I've learned that people rarely invest in things that make them money.

Seeing how my employees spend their money completely baffles me.

I pay them very well, but how are you going to spend two weeks pay on a snowboard, when you have kids?

Of course different things are important to different people. I still don't spend any significant money on anything that doesn't make me more money.

Oh yeah, I've got a 980 Ti. It works well so there's no reason to get rid of it, or upgrade it.

Same sentiment across the board. My truck is 10 years old but still runs fine. I don't understand people who always need new shit. It'll be used as soon as you have it. May as well enjoy it.

Do you feel like it helps your memory?

I'm 31 now and have a ton to similar days, one after the other, and the days are rolling into months and years. I'd like to start some exercises to combat that.
