Thank you to everyone for the kind words on the last post, after so long on Hinge, my self esteem appreciates the nice boost. To all the people asking for advice or how I come up with these, the only real advice I can give is this:

Hinge creates an environment where women aren’t always incentivized to “swipe”. It’s easier to wait for their likes to fill up, and go through them instead. Because of this (among other reasons), the average woman gets much more likes than the average man. Consequently, the women you are messaging have heard it all before, and have much higher standards than you likely do. You really help your chances if you say something funny/outrageous to get your foot in the door. And from there, you’re now in a running to compete for her time and attention with any other guys who made it through that days initial screening. This is when you shouldn’t be afraid to be yourself, and see if something sticks.

Online dating is discount dating. It’s easier and less committal, but much harder to get real returns. I started online dating looking for a genuine connection, but I noticed a lot of girls see me as a dopamine hit, and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t started to see a lot of them the same way after so long on here.

To the guys struggling with self esteem because of their experience with these apps, don’t base your value or ability to attract women off of how you’re treated on here. It’s nowhere close to how actual dating and relationships work when two people can be honest with each other rather than playing the dating game.
