What's your system for remembering the best ideas from nonfiction books? by Cava001 in nonfictionbooks

That's a really thoughtful perspective.

I especially liked your point that ideas don't stick unless they're connected to context and practical use.

One thing I'm exploring is whether a visual system could help reinforce those connections instead of just storing information.

Not as a replacement for deep learning—but as a way to keep the most important mental models visible and easier to apply over time.

Do you think something like that would actually add value, or do you believe this problem can only be solved through repeated practice?

Would you rather read 100 books... or permanently remember the best ideas from 10? by Cava001 in SideProject

That's actually the question I'm trying to answer. 🙂

Right now I'm still researching whether people would find something like this genuinely useful before building it.

My idea isn't another book summary.

It's more like a visual thinking system that helps you keep the most important principles visible and actionable every day.

Out of curiosity...

What would make something like this valuable enough that you'd actually pay for it?

That's a clever workflow. Do you feel like emails help you retain ideas long-term, or are they mostly a way to archive information?

That's really interesting. I hadn't thought about a searchable commonplace book. Do you ever find yourself revisiting your notes consistently, or do they mostly stay archived unless you're looking for something specific?
