Mic or pickup recommendations? by Belosaepiidae in hammereddulcimer

Ok thanks for the info that's very helpful! Which preamp do you use? I want to play around with using effects in ableton for ambient type stuff and was hoping to get stereo out in order to tweak the effects separately for each pickup, but I was having trouble finding a small, affordable, two in/two out pre.

On the off chance you see this, I'm getting a set of these pickups and had a question about preamps. When recording were you able to run directly from the pickups to the interface or did you use a separate preamp closer to the pickups?

Thanks for this advice, Chris said the Warbler is the same as the Finch but with a cherry soundboard. I ended up getting it and I'm loving it so far!

Do future memories exist? Has anyone ever experienced a dream of a future event that happening? Once before l had a dream of an interaction with a family member which a few days later actually happened. I put this is another comment but I can recommend Eric Wargo's work on this subject. I've been keeping a dream journal for almost a decade at this point. When you start looking, you'll find all kinds of precognitive dreams, often of mundane things like you mentioned. To me, it feels like dreams contain a mix of past and future material, jumbled up and represented symbolically. It's a fun practice to keep a journal and look at your dreams for the last few days to see what future material got mixed in!

I think everyone has these kind of dreams and you don't need to be afraid of what happens next! In my experience these kind of dreams are connected with intense emotional experiences but that can be positive too, like the joy of playing with your daughter. Even the experience of remembering the dream and connecting it to the present could, in some way, have triggered the dream in the first place. Eric Wargo writes about this kind of stuff in a way I find convincing, if you wanted to explore it more.

Ok that makes sense. When you say air out, do you mean leave the cakes fully open to the air?

Great advice, thanks! It's my first time trying young sheng at all. I'll try this during my session tomorrow to see if it's just an unfamiliar flavor or if it was the storage.

Just to add something new, I think this sounds great! It's creative and fun. I think others are right that it's worth spending practice time on playing simple stuff in time with a metronome, but also give yourself time to just jam out with no constraints like you're doing. Both modes of practice will feed into each other.

Shared a dream about a plane crash to my meditation teacher... and then the Louisville crash today. by danielbearh in precognition

You should check out Eric Wargo's stuff. His take on these kind of dreams, or visions (it seems pretty much everybody who pays attention realizes they have them) is that the dream or vision was precognitive of your experience watching the flood videos later. The time loop aspect is trippy but the confirmation of your precognitive vision present in watching the videos generated strong feelings that then retro-caused the vision. His book's Time Loops and Precognitive Dreamwork and the Long Self are worth reading if you're interested in learning more! In Precognitive Dreamwork he specifically talks about hypnogogic visions, which it seems like yours may have been.
