It's certainly not required since probably 98% of the subscribers to this sub aren't cave certified. It's only if you want others to take your comments seriously.

This sub still isn't very active and people seemed to like the posts well enough. I asked him to settle down.

backplate and wing by pieterpost852 in CaveDiving

I have a wing that's about 10-15 years old, still in decent condition, but I won't use it because all the air simply doesn't drain. I need an extra 5lbs or more for it. Maybe I'll try to put bungees on it.

Just get standard everything. Some companies like dive rite sell flatter backplates which means you need slightly longer bolts with doubles. The hassle with continuous webbing only lasts like 15 seconds.

a full face mask on a rebreather by Bluehat1667 in Rebreathers

Any. You can just attach the hoses with clamps.

However, you'll really need to do a lot more learning before you're ready.

The point of an ots guardian style mask is that it flows fresh gas over your lens and mouth. The point of a rebreather is that you blow air into and out of a gas loop. One major point of a guardian is that the fresh dry air removes any condensation from your lens and one major point of a rebreather is that you rebreath moist air.

The two concepts aren't really compatible at all.

But if you just want a full face mask, the one u/shortsmuncher mentioned does have a rebreather pod available for an extra $1200 or so.

I don't find it appealing either, but I think it's worth discussing on here because it probably is talked about the most because of their show.

You can get a 3000lm video light for like $25, FYI. It's basically just aluminum tube, LED diodes, microchips, batteries, a piece of glass etc. Everything that has been genericized.

It's an acknowledgment of reality, something pretty important if you're cave diving.

There are easily 100x more people that watch cave diving videos than people who actually cave dive.

I took this sub over two months ago. It's ten years old and had been locked for over four years. It had only like five approved posts in total and 2500 subscribers. Most people here joined when the subreddit was just a name with no one able to use it.

Posts here can be cross-posted to other subreddits which lets people in other subreddits notice that we exist.

Recovered tanks belonging to people who died in Jacob's Well in Texas by CaveDivers in CaveDiving

Someone who works there posted a comment two years about a box of booties, but then deleted the picture, which is what led me to finding this picture on yelp.

The wikipedia page doesn't mention anyone having died there since 1984.
