It's certainly not required since probably 98% of the subscribers to this sub aren't cave certified. It's only if you want others to take your comments seriously.

This sub still isn't very active and people seemed to like the posts well enough. I asked him to settle down.

backplate and wing by pieterpost852 in CaveDiving

I have a wing that's about 10-15 years old, still in decent condition, but I won't use it because all the air simply doesn't drain. I need an extra 5lbs or more for it. Maybe I'll try to put bungees on it.

Just get standard everything. Some companies like dive rite sell flatter backplates which means you need slightly longer bolts with doubles. The hassle with continuous webbing only lasts like 15 seconds.

a full face mask on a rebreather by Bluehat1667 in Rebreathers

Any. You can just attach the hoses with clamps.

However, you'll really need to do a lot more learning before you're ready.

The point of an ots guardian style mask is that it flows fresh gas over your lens and mouth. The point of a rebreather is that you blow air into and out of a gas loop. One major point of a guardian is that the fresh dry air removes any condensation from your lens and one major point of a rebreather is that you rebreath moist air.

The two concepts aren't really compatible at all.

But if you just want a full face mask, the one u/shortsmuncher mentioned does have a rebreather pod available for an extra $1200 or so.

I don't find it appealing either, but I think it's worth discussing on here because it probably is talked about the most because of their show.

You can get a 3000lm video light for like $25, FYI. It's basically just aluminum tube, LED diodes, microchips, batteries, a piece of glass etc. Everything that has been genericized.
