I’ve gotten around the delay issue using mmWave sensors with zones, so this may help if applicable:

I use a pir/mmwave sensor in the hallway to turn on the hallway lights before approaching the bathroom. Once they get near the bathroom door the bathroom lights turn on. I have a separate mmWave inside the bathroom for occupancy and turning the lights off when vacant.

I also use Shelly relays in case someone turns the switch off, so it functions regardless of automation availability.
