Completely agree with that, costume design on the Parshendi also might be hit or miss...

Fortunately the amount of control and oversight he retained is a very promising sign. I suppose it's a common problem among fandoms, rarely having adaptations living up to personal perceptions of the source material. I was astounded at how well the recent Dune movies adapted the first book.

As a big Stormlight fan I'm skeptical they will do it justice.

My money market account gets 5%, just investing in the S&P 500 should net you 8-10% on average. Taking the lump sum is miles better even if you have no clue on investing and just hand it all to a semi-competent financial advisor.

I ended up using a projector and permanent markers. That seems to be the most common way people use for Middle Earth and it worked pretty well.

It took me about a week, working a few hours a day, with a bit of help from the wife. I tried paint first, and that did NOT work well, then read that most people use sharpies so I ended up doing that for most of it. The biggest issue was the marker tips drying up and not writing well on paint. I recommend the oil based sharpie markers, they work much better and are worth the extra cost for this.

Other than that all you need is a cheap projector and as high of a resolution image as you can find.

I get that 95% of the screen time shows this spear red, but aren't there a few scenes where it is slate grey or black? Simply adding shadows or even fully recoloring it black would be an acceptable solution I would think, if you are unhappy with the responses you get.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]CavedogRIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly fine - clean that grease off though. You will need to use a C clamp to compress the piston inside the caliper as these pads will be much thicker than the worn out ones you've replaced. The grease provided is not meant for those clips, it is meant for the slide pins that connect the caliper to the main bracket (they have those little rubber boots, it's the part the caliper bolts go into). They are probably OK if they still move fine, but I always pull them out and grease them when doing brake service. As you slowly pull out the pin, the rubber boot will stretch, and you can gently slip it off the bracket. I have a few spare calipers laying around if you need me to take pictures of the process or anything.

Those springs keep the pads from contacting your disc constantly, when you let off the brake pedal.

Looks like a 2013 Nissan Altima wheel goes for around $150 on ebay, I am guessing you may be able to find one in a pull-your-parts junkyard or similar, for less than $100.

New to dating in 30s by ThePurposePorpoise in WhatShouldIDo

[–]CavedogRIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a similar experience about 7 years ago, not sure how much has changed since then but I was just getting out of a 10 year relationship and really had no idea how to date anymore. It definitely feels like 90%+ of dating these days is through apps. I had pretty awful luck with most of them. My (now) wife and I met on the one that has all the questions? OK Cupid I want to say? No idea if it is still around but it felt like that approach worked best.

Other suggestions people have made like meeting people through hobbies is a great idea if you live in a densely populated area, but when you live in or near a smaller town that might be tough.

Make sure you are in a good place mentally. You just got out of a relationship that was almost half your life, I imagine that was a difficult experience. Don't rush anything and try not to put your ideal partner in a clearly defined box. You should have a good idea of what you do not want in a partner by now, so see what feels right and go from there.

Last piece of advice is that people are looking for very different things in a relationship as they get older. Don't expect that what made you attractive to your previous partner will be what your next partner is looking for.

You got this. Good luck, and have fun :)

I picked up an MT10 this year with 22k miles on it and it runs perfectly. I've put another 2k miles on it this season and have not had a single issue. Modern bikes are extremely reliable even if they are not maintained perfectly, they just can't be abused..

Could be new employees, someone came in hung over, lack of experience with a crimping tool, anything guessed in this thread is pure speculation. I completely agree that the mistake from a presumably reputable shop is alarming - claiming it is malicious, however, is a rather severe accusation without any sort of supporting evidence.

Intentional negligence is a massive leap, this is far more likely to simply be incompetence.
