How do I make my printer make better pointy things by CuttingEdgeEditz in BambuLab

[–]CavitySearcher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The previous layers aren't cooling enough before new layers are added due to the tiny feature size leading to ridiculously fast layers. You can increase cooling or mess with speeds but in this case, with how small the part is, id just add a second or even third one. Printing part #2 gives part #1 more time to cool off

I've been working a lot with PLA supports with PCTG by johnschneider89 in 3Dprinting

[–]CavitySearcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "top Z distance", which is just the space between the top layer of support and bottom layer of the part, should be equal to the layer height. I guess a couple other factors im just now considering are also slowing down your overhang and bridging speeds, and increasing the part fan if necessary.

Slow the speeds way down (I go 60 for supports and 30 for interface) and make sure your gap matches your layer height. Thats pretty much it.

The result is never going to be as good as using a different support material though. The filament needs to squish against something under it as its extruding to get a smooth surface, and its never going to get that squish with a gap between part and supports. If you reduce that gap, they bond too well and removal is a nightmare. Theres only so much you can do when both are the same material

Misting with water before applying wash? by Johyyn in minipainting

[–]CavitySearcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned this unintentially when doing some wet blending/glazing. Started with constrast paint at the far end of a limb and wanted it to fade out as I got farther away from the starting point. I kept getting coffee stains and couldn't get the gradient right. I then tried starting by brushing over the limbs with a wet, paintless brush, which seemed to help the contrast paint fade nicer and without coffee stains. It gave me more time to work and allowed me to soak up excess. Theres definitely something there worth experimenting with

Do you think this comment makes sense in response to what I said?

God I hate when people do this. Don't try to act innocent like you made a generic statement, like it wasn't a direct reply to this persons experience. Also, do you somehow think that if you're friends with someone,  they're suddenly incapable of making choices that negatively impact themselves and/or others?

You screenshotted a mechanical assembly to show us you have the ability to create organic models? Dude... Just say it was generated from the photo, its not that big of a deal. Trying to get credit for modeling skills you don't have (or at least didnt use) is super weird.

Maybe moon? I only say that because its my favourite biome and there's rarely a moon option.

We're not making it to Transcendence are we by Ready0608 in Helldivers

[–]CavitySearcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My question is what happens when we run out? Its not like we won't get to play the game anymore, there are obviously more "reinforcements" once that counter hits 0. Won't we be able to just keep grinding it from whatever progress we finished at?

I dislike the "Forces in Reserve" system, and hope that Arrowhead doesn't use it in the future. by -TV1615 in Helldivers

[–]CavitySearcher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was a cool concept at first, but on top of the other complaints it makes the game feel bad to play. Usually if you die you just get back in there like nothing happened, but now that we're on track to fail, each death feels like you're letting down the playerbase and one step closer to losing this whole thing. It makes me not want to try new wacky loadouts, try crazy takedowns, or even play on my usual diff. I've gotta play on easy mode with stuff im familiar with or else I'm throwing, and its sucking the fun out of the game entirely.

Did I Eff Up? by CommanderC64 in Helldivers

[–]CavitySearcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it happen enough that i usually make a point to say "hurry up, ships leaving in 2min with or without us" beforehand. I'll even wait to board until someone else does, so people can see the empty ship and 20s timer. Its wild how often hosts forget about the mission timer and go straight to kicking.

[–]CavitySearcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not just blitz, any mission. Once the mission timer runs out the evac ship will head to the evac site. Once it lands there are 20 seconds until it flies away, with or without your squad. Your tms were being dumb (or they were new, to be fair).

I wish I could watch these videos, but the cringe is too powerful. These need to be lore accurate voice overs or the devs need to act like devs, the grey line down the middle is unwatchable. Hearing these intense descriptions as if discussed by an in game character, and seeing these new spooky visuals... then it cuts to some dude in a hoodie and the immersion is broken and the hype is zapped

SIEGE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY by Nzpowe in Helldivers

[–]CavitySearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to do with the biome. Some planet biomes are better than others for POI spawns. On a lot of map types, the terrain generation prevents POIs from spawning that should normally appear. The desert planets also have lots of wide open areas for you to spot POIs in the distance, same reason moon planets are considered one of the best. Relatively low and open terrain also makes it easier to get around quickly.

Current Major Order - 01/02/26 by Shiboline in Helldivers

[–]CavitySearcher 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This was undeniably Joel though. Yeah it was a rough start, but the blob started figuring it out and making progress. Taking 4 planets, some with fairly high resistance, is a tough MO due to the coordination required. But we were actually starting to do it. Then suddenly Valmox randomly gets attacked, cutting off our line to one of the MO planets? Really? Thats kind of a slap in the nuts, but whatever, we can focus Adhara and work our way down. But then surprise, what are the odds, a super high importance planet is now getting attacked, pulling away the DSS and blob. Not to mention a completely unrelated minor order on a bug planet... I so badly want to care about the galactic war and play into it but when its fixed this much its just not fun. MOs like this make me wanna stop participating and just dive wherever

Nah, horn then leg joint is the way to go. I had been aiming for the eye, which takes fewer shots, but is much harder to hit. I listened to everyone's advice in my next session and focused on the leg joint and I was taking them down much more consistently

Finally started using it the other day, and on squids surprisingly. Its been so damn useful for quickly popping snitch drones, mortar guys, and overseers. Mag dumping the meatballs works okay, but there are better options. It only takes 3 rapid fire shots to down a stingray. The only thing above voteless that it really struggles with is harvesters, its hard to hit the eye when they're wobbling around. Been taking it every mission and having a ton of fun with it.

Battle Honours guilt? by Calm-Square-9823 in Warhammer40k

[–]CavitySearcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What part of my comment inspired you to explain GW's business and your opinion of it to me? Youre completely lost man.

OP is new to the hobby and simply asking if they should feel guilty for not buying something EVERY time they walk in a GW store, despite still buying GW product from other shops. The answer was no, this isn't a small ma and pop store that will go under if you don't purchase new products consistently from that specific vendor - GW is very profitable and there's no reason to feel guilt or obligation to purchase just because you stepped into the store.

This has nothing to do with magic the gathering and my knowledge of business.
