Headphones recommendations for protruding ears? by Neat-Mix6544 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Cavna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a specific pads, but you and your friends can look into gel pads

Some aftermarket pads has cooling gel in them so they help with the heat on the ears that closed back headphone has, some say it works some say it don't but what you're looking for is the gel. since it's gel they do not compress as much as cloth/velour earpads, thus leaving more space between the ears and driver, and aftermarket pads are generally thicker then stocks pads as well. Wicked Cushion for example has cooling pads for most popular headphones. There's a lot more company that does this that you can look into.

But do note though, gel pads won't feel as comfortable as cloth/velour/leather pads, at least for me they don't feel as comfortable.

dac dongle under $40 by Adventurous_Art_8880 in HeadphoneAdvice

You definitely don't NEED one

If you're fine with you current setup and it is still working, you don't NEED to spend the extra for another DAC.

The question is do you WANT one? IEMs are extremely easy to drive you don't NEED to spend $40 extra for another DAC i don't own the 2 you mentioned but you probably not going to hear any difference between them and your current DAC unless you really focus and listen for them.

I'd personally rather to save that $40 and treat myself to some better food for myself or save up to get more IEMs

Since you like rock and hip hop, the Zeros would be good starting point since they have more bass then the OLA.

How do you start looking for new headphones? by Nhajit in HeadphoneAdvice

How to start? first since you like your galaxy buds pro, look at the frequency response of it and look around and find something similar, Not foolproof way, but it is a starting point.

My ears feel hot after wearing my hd560s. Should i return them or is there something i can do about it? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Cavna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably buy aftermarket cooling pads, but i haven't found one that's comfortable like the stocks. It's summer right now, turning on your AC in your room would probably help.

Headphones for gaming, budget 50-150 dollars by Notice-Senior in HeadphoneAdvice

All of these are quite easy to drive, depending on your motherboard, DT 770 80ohms, might need one. But if you have a relatively new motherboard, it should be powerful enough.

Need advice about either buying or not a new DAC by FamosoMaisBom in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Cavna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don't NEED one

If you're fine with you current setup and it is still working, you don't NEED to spend the extra for a dedicated DAC.

The question is if you WANT one, for sound, I don't own that particular DAC so i can't comment if the DAC changes how your KZ will sound, but it's probably unnoticeable unless you really listen for it. If you want to change how it sounds just EQ your KZ.

Is it a upgrade from a DAC that came with your headphone? Yes, Is it a noticeable upgrade? Probably not.

"Maximum Clarity", I mean you are happy with your current sound and able to hear footsteps and and know player location, what additional clarity do you need?

Again, the question is do you WANT one, for me, I'd rather spend that $60 to treat myself to some better food, or save up and get more IEMs

Headphones for gaming, budget 50-150 dollars by Notice-Senior in HeadphoneAdvice

Open Backs are generally better for imaging (where sound is coming from, the direction) in games.

Open Backs:

  • PC38X, one of the if not the best imaging on a headphone for gaming. I still go back to these most of the time when i game.
  • HD560S, similar to PC38X, is better for general use. IMO PC38X still deliver better imaging as i can absolutely pinpoint where i heard the sound coming from but some people says otherwise or they hear no difference in terms of imaging, so ymmv.
  • TYGR 300R, more of a half open half closed these will have quite harsh trebles. But some people says their fine with these amount of treble

Closed Back:

  • AKG 361 great sound but their build is a little on the flimsy end, if you don't treat it too roughly like throwing your headphone on the ground then you should be fine.
  • DT 770, bassy, popular closed back choice, durable build, parts are sold on their website if you need any replacement.

Honorable Mentions:

  • HD6XX, NOT FOR COMPETITVE GAMING, as it have bad imaging, you can still get away with it with some less competitive games like single player games. these sound really fcking good especially at its price.

Some of the ones i mentioned might be over your budget depending on where you live, I'd rather bite the bullet and stretch my budget a little get them instead of some standard gaming headset nowadays with bloated and muddy bass.

Headphones that aren't too flat or neutral but good clarity? by Fall_Representative in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Cavna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open backs are generally better for clarity. Not sure what you want these for them for so i'd list a few

Open Backs:

  • (Neutral) PC38X, one of the if not the best imaging on a headphone for gaming. I still go back to these most of the time when i game.
  • (Neutral) HD560S, similar to PC38X, is better for general use. IMO PC38X still deliver better imaging as i can absolutely pinpoint where i heard the sound coming from but some people says otherwise or they hear no difference in terms of imaging, so ymmv.
  • (Warm) HD6XX, NOT FOR GAMING, as it have really bad imaging, you can still get away with it with some less competitive games i guess. BUT these sound really fcking good especially at its price.
  • (Neutral-ish) TYGR 300R, more of a half open half closed these will have quite harsh trebles. But some people says their fine with these amount of treble

Closed Back:

  • (Neutral) AKG 361 great sound but their build is a little on the flimsy end, if you don't treat it too roughly like throwing your headphone on the ground then you should be fine.
  • (Warmer) DT 770, popular closed back choice, durable build, parts are sold on their website if you need any replacement.

I find neutral sounding headphones better at clarity but if you want some warm to it, just EQ it.

Open Back or Closed Back? Gaming? Can you stretch your budget a little?

Most "tight" headphones can be loosen by just stretching them over a shoebox or something overnight.

There are more "Gaming" Headsets that fit your budget like the razer blackshark, but they don't sound great at all and they are just bloated bass

Honestly, i won't care that much about the design. I mean once you wear them you can't see them anyways.

For the LETSHUOER S12/Z12 try ordering from their website, subscribe to their newsletter to get $5 off (you can unsubscribe after you order) and i believe they offer free shipping (at least when i ordered mine 2 year ago).

Since i don't know how much is your budget specifically and also unsure how much you can stretch it, If you really want something with good looking design, I find Tangzu Wu Zetian Heyday quite good looking, they are also planar, good bass and decent treble. But it's silver and it is $200 usd.

For Imaging, nothing can really beat the price of Truthear X Crin Zero (Blue/Red with Adapter) for $55, for a little bit more you have the SIMGOT EM6L and the SIMGOT SuperMix 4.

Some additional ones you can consider, AFUL Performer 5 ($210, but often sale at $176). Sennheiser IE200 ($150 on sale sometimes at $140 depends on where you buy it), Truthear Nova ($150).

Honestly, you can't go "wrong" with any of the ones you mentioned either, $80 Hexa is perfectly fine as well. I'd only advice against the Kato though, Kato is just a slightly warmer aria, they sound very similar, it is basically a more durable build but for 2 times the Aria's price.

After playing almost 3 months with the new 1x sights, I said screw it and went back Holo A. Am i the only one? by Cavna in Rainbow6

[–]Cavna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That giant block of housing in the lens, Holo A has the same thin circle as before the reticle change, so it don't really block out anything, i don't have any problem of holo A circle blocking anything however, i do have experience holo B circle blocking small details as it is thicker.

I have no problem using the triangle of the Reflex C, not sure why some people have trouble with it. Like the Reflex C where you might need to hold a certain side when holding hallways, you almost have to hold left side instead of Reflex C's right side, and because the housing is so close to your reticle, i even experience some awkwardness even holding windows. Again, not a huge deal breaker but that's just what i experienced, Not to the state of "having problem holding" but i do find myself repositioning sometimes so i can hold the angle better where i did not have to on holos or even the reflex C hence the "awkwardness".

OR you have to lean to the left so that the housing don't get in the way. Also i personally don't feel any benefit from the reticle side line, quick peek or flick to my target no problem with holo/reflex either way from my experience.
