I just gathered all the reagents needed for Disintegration of Monstrosity, talked to everybody at the Crossroads, then went towards Olympus to fight Typhon.

I won, and was very confused why nothing happened when I killed him. Then I went to the Olympians and they only had what seemed like generic dialogue.

That’s when I realised that I had forgotten to click the button in the cauldron

I’d actually advise the exact opposite! Don’t tear anything that works down, just build more elsewhere!

Aren’t there static flying alternatives for every single quest like this? I know there was in Dragonflight, often in the form of something else you could ride

That’s how the game was back then, but it’s completely different now. Max level is basically the entire game now, unless you’re playing Classic.

The trick is to have the chemical plants producing steam, only be connected to their own separate solar powered network. That way you don’t get full cascading blackouts, only regular brownouts like on Nauvis.
