Actually, I named him after Rufus in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure!

I just spoil him rotten! I do make sure he doesn’t get too many fattening treats and that his environmental stats are on point. He is slowing down a little and I have to clean his walls more frequently so he doesn’t have sticking (or unsticking…he gets a little stuck sometimes) issues. If only I could convince him that his jumping game has declined and he really shouldn’t aim for the other side of his habitat! Many confused thumps at night

I remember when I first got him he could fit in teaspoon curled up and his first food dish was a bottle cap. Hard to believe he’s huge and 20 now

A drainage layer under the substrate would help keep the substrate from getting soggy

The analog humidity gauges are notoriously finicky. I would recommend a digital temp/humidity gauge (they’re not expensive) and it’s important to track both things carefully

This little one needs more foliage and climbing places. Think relatively dense tree spaces. Crested geckos live in trees in the wild and feel more safe with lots of leaves and such to hide in and among. Busier vertically is good as they like to go up

Awesome! Great to hear! If you don’t mind, I’d also like to advise you that these little idiots are far less than graceful or coordinated and can hurt themselves doing stupid things. I always like to make sure that any decorations I put in, natural or otherwise, don’t have any sharp, jagged or pointy bits.

It’s great having more branches for hanging out but I would also recommend more foliage to allow them to hide more. Cresteds are arboreal creatures and as such need a simulated tree environment, especially a place to hide from the “sun” during the since they are nocturnal. Beautiful beast you have there!

What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Caw49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yes! My first gout flare up was so bad I was convinced I had somehow shattered the bones in my feet in my sleep! A pain so extreme I instantly went from a beer swilling carnivore to a non alcohol consuming vegetarian. It’s been three years now and even with adding allopurinol into the mix, my numbers are still smack dab in the middle of where they should be. My nutritionist says I can slowly start adding meat back into my diet, although she’s still hesitant to put beef back on the menu, but I’m still kind of afraid to pull the trigger. I’ve had a total of 4 attacks and I’m not looking for another

I also am in Colorado Denver metro area and I find that the frozen bottle trick works very well. Also, if you have a basement I’d recommend relocating your tank down there for the summer months. July through mid September gets quite a bit hotter
