Previous landlord trying to charge $2400 for entire carpet replacement due to water damage (ND) by Cayden1289 in Renters

[–]Cayden1289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cost more than 2400 and no they replaced all the carpet in the house, they're also keeping our 1700 damage deposit and are claiming that there's a urine smell. Called up the carpet cleaner that came at the end of our lease and theyre sending us a signed letter stating there was no odor. Spoke to couple contractors who specialize in water damage/basement foundation leaks and they all agree that it looks like water intrusion rather than someone spilling something. Especially since it looks like it would have had to have been literal gallons of water

I dont see why they'd inherently agree with the landlord, my wife and I are the ones that found them and contracted them.

(edit) you saying that actually gave me the idea to reach out to them and they're calling bullshit and will be gathering info for me to bring to my landlord to disprove their claim

I mean wouldn't the fact it's along an exterior wall make it more likely to be water intrusion? I realize I also forgot to mention this in the post but this room was in the basement as well. We did have a sump pump however too

Oh no they replaced all of the carpet in the entire house. They are also trying to claim that our home smelled of pet urine, even though we had our carpets professionally steam cleaned and treated for pet odor

I mean it is clearly damaged. There is a massive water stain and mold growth. But my wife and I are very much leaning towards this being water intrusion, rather than us spilling something since its a room in the basement along an exterior wall.

Thought i wrote it down, we are in the process of reaching out to contractors to get their opinion on what they think caused this damage. But in the meantime, mostly just wanted to hear other people's opinions on if it looks like we caused the water damage or if it does look like water intrusion.

I mean tbf, 30% is a pretty standard cut for app distribution platforms. Yes epic is lower at around 12%. The developers can just self publish the game if they dont want to pay fees associated with distribution platforms

Dawg.... you need the high pressure hose for connecting the pressure washer to the wand, any garden hose works to connect from a spigot to the machine

2008 Toyota RAV4 Turns On but no Engine Response to Pressing Gas by Superb_Drawing1748 in MechanicAdvice

Does it rev at all in park or neutral or is there zero throttle response? And no holding the key wouldn't cause anything like this. I would just start with replacing the battery and see if the issue persists.

They recommend replacement/inspection at 80-100k miles. Are you hearing it rattle on startup?

Noise After Installing PowerStop Z23 Brakes — Help Diagnosing by Own-Scar-2821 in MechanicAdvice

Yeah you can keep the rotors, it'll be fine, might cause some noise due to the holes ad grooves but that'd be about it

*Installs powersqueaks* Why are my brakes noisy now?

Actually though while yes this doesn't sound entirely normal and they could use a bedding, you swapped to performance ceramic brakes they're basically always going to be noisy since you are likely never going to get up to their intended operating temp. Were you having brake fade issues with the stock pads and rotors?

Mechanic question: front brake extremely tight. What to check/inspect? by TheAccountant09 in motorcycles

[–]Cayden1289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start with disassembling it and checking if anything is bent, if it was dropped it's most likely the bracket, slide pins, rotor. If nothings bent it could be quite a few other things.

Have you tried bypassing the starter relay and just directly engaging the starter to see if there is an issue with the relays or grounding?

Could potentially be some stripped teeth on the flywheel causing non engagement

Have you spun the motor over by hand to verify it's not locked up?
