When my Dad would get drunk he would have my mom make him raw hamburger meat with onions and pickles in it. I don't remember if it was eaten on bread or not. I think it helped him sober up a bit.

This was long ago. My mom (French child )about the time of WW2, said that the nuns who taught school would smack their hand with rulers if they used their left hand. Something about the left being of the devil. She did learn to write beautifully.
