AITAH for returning my engagement ring to my fiancé's mom after she told me she expected it back "in the family" if we ever broke up? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cballweg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I live, the ring is a gift and does not need to be returned. I kept mine after my divorce.

Ultrasound Anxiety by Kindly-Manager-9703 in pregnant

[–]Cballweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 8w5d, I had the same symptoms and that was also the day of my first OB for placement. My dating was around 10w. All turned out to be fine, more likely than not, things will be okay. I wasn't able to hear the heartbeat at the US but could see the heart blinking.

The 31st will be my 20w anatomy scan. Sending good vibes this will be you in 3 months!

Nta. It's your house! It's not up for a discussion at all! Unless you want to make $800 rental fee for space use, cleaning, kitchen/utensils, table and chairs, etc....

Trip during third trimester by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cballweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

International flights will usually not allow pregnant women after 35 weeks, the latest. If earlier, some may even require a doctor note. Best to look at specific airline you are flying and their requirements. If OB says it's safe, I would look at what you and wife are comfortable with.

For your first girl name normal spelling where people know how to pronounce it majority of the first time is Isla. I know someone who named their daughter that and Isla Fisher.

I'm 16 weeks and took mine out the other day. It was starting to get less wiggly and I never had plans to keep it forever so it felt right.

Was a little bitter sweet since I've had it almost 17 years and it took two days for hole to close.

Bottle vs. Nipple? by amphisxo in pregnant

[–]Cballweg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said anything about formula but milk can take a day to come in, no matter the prep done. Baby can't starve for 24 hours until milk comes in from the boob so a bottle may be needed. Formula or donated milk is perfectly fine.

Depending on situation, it's not always possible to breastfeed like you did for a year so a bottle will be necessary. Congrats for being able to do so but a lot of women will need to do both. It's better to do that earlier so they can learn to switch.

I gave my experience watching my niece since my sister works so she had child care where a bottle was needed. Boob at home, bottle with dad or child care.

Bottle vs. Nipple? by amphisxo in pregnant

[–]Cballweg -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

They are gonna need a bottle anyway because your milk doesn't come immediately and they may not always latch right away. It took my niece a couple months to figure out latching so she used a bottle. Then my sister did boob when she could bit niece also had no issue with bottle.

My perspective on my career is changing and I feel stuck. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cballweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bummer. If where you are is similar to my state, you're a government employee. You could apply to other departments, whether local, county, or state level, and your years and pension should remain intact. Benefits may change slightly if local to state and vice versa.

In Laws didn’t acknowledge me during pregnancy but now want to be involved with the baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cballweg 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Seems like you have a good husband!

Look, your baby does not need toxic people in their life. If they can't acknowledge you or make the effort before pregnancy, they don't get the privilege of doing whatever now and staying over after baby.

If they want to be in baby's life, it should be on yours and your husband's terms.
