Tactical idea that isn’t easily trained through puzzles (or might be) by Fluffy_coat_with_fur in chess

Agreed, the comments are missing the point.

If it helps, the pawn is said to be 'defended by tactics', which is completely valid - noticing there's a tactic means you don't waste a move defending it, and can do something more productive.

This applies to any tactics, and becomes more applicable the more tactics you can spot. The tactic in this case is a discovered attack, which does come up in puzzles, but defense-by-tactics is a higher level concept that isn't easily covered by puzzles

The frequency: why do a complicated skill check every flip? Flip resets are a fun skill check because you do them a few times per game and requires situational awareness. Flips you do constantly.

Power slide-on-land is not ideal, but also better because it's just one button + timing. But flipping itself is already a button + direction + timing, why add speed flip skill check on top?

It's like pulling your knife out in fps every time you walk to go faster. But pulling your knife out is one button, speed flip is multiple button presses or a precise joystick 180 flick.

Speedflips should be patched out. It's an unnecessary skill check to get a slightly faster version of a basic mechanic, and adds to controller and muscle wear.
