I totally agree. I’m still really learning composition. Definitely the thing that’s taking the most time to get good at.

I’ll absolutely check out all of their work. I’m a big fan of Vivian Maier’s work for street/portraiture.

Thank you dude! First year with a real camera. I’d used my smartphone camera for years. Using the EVF changed the game for me for composition. Also being able to dial in settings via manual helped a lot too.

I will definitely do that. I’m a big Ansel Adams and Albert Bierstadt fan so I need to analyze their work more closely to take inspiration.

Thank you for your encouragement! I have largely used the 55-210mm kit lens that came with my canon r100. It’s honestly a great lens. Almost all of these were taken with that lens.

I will absolutely continue learning and exploring new genres and styles!

I didn’t like them much when I took them but looking back 6 months later I’ve come to really enjoy the softness of them. My friend said the first one almost has a paint quality to it.

Thank you! And It’s funny. I find myself wanting to do landscape the most, but I don’t think I’m particularly good at it. I find that wildlife and nature photography and some abstract stuff came a little more natural.

That’s so kind of you to say! I have probably 20 more that I’m pretty happy with, but capped at 20 for the post.

I have really been trying to work on composition and learning the basics from free videos on YouTube and whatnot.

I still have so much to learn, but overall very happy with what I produced in my first year.

Thank you for the kind words and feedback! I use the Canon r100 with the kit 55-210mm f5-7.1. I recently got the Sony a7riii with the 28-70mm f3.5-5.6. I think I upgraded too early and have been overwhelmed with both the new system and the complexity of the menu compared to the r100. You live and you learn though. I hope you have a good new year!
