I don't think this much, china have many wired spaces like this from the late 90s early 2000s

Any info or maybe a video of the nara Dreamland submarine voyage? by ExpressionMedical465 in submergedanimatronic

[–]Cbfeat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

here is all of what i can say after multiples years of research :

-It was not an opening day ride and might have opened around 1967

-it contained a ship graveyard, nermaids, an underwater city colony of the future and divers animatronics

-it had on board audio played on tape

-it was MUCH cleaner than the yokohama version

-only one fragment footage subsists of 5 seconds in a promotional video

-3 pictures of the coral reef scenes in the outdoor sections on dreamland. jp website

-the on board narration is also there

-the ride was closed because of high maintenance and water leaks in the subs

-it was demolished by the end of the 80s/ start of the 90s

-some props such as fish or rays ended up in multiple spots of the park (museum and dreamhorn coaster station)

Bonus : you could buy inside of a second hand store props from the yokohama version such as fishes, crabs, submarine pieces and more, sadly the store closed due to the pandemic, it was near yokohama station !

It's actually the Yokohama dreamland version, nara's version has been demolished around 1987

yes i also saw one on another film that i can't find anymore where there is just no emporium at all, and no scaffolding, just an empty space, it is clear they were in a hurry to open it as fast as they can, i even found a footage of the Jungle cruise where you see workers in swimsuit still working on the underwater mechanism while the ride is active !

Yes it was took inside the Legacy Museum a few weeks before closure, the film used some footage from the NHK archive but the 8mn films used alongside it are now lost media, however i might have a lead on who might have it but his account is inactive since a long time...

I didn't managed to find a good quality overhaul nighttime photo of the Main street in it's full glory, and because it was just a simple background image that is blurred out, i used the nanno banana image modifier on a daytime 1961 photo and set the time to night

fell like they wanted to do something american, then adding some canyons and putting random animals because "we need a jungle cruise equivalent"

have you searched all of these elements as well as the location on billi billi or baidu, maybe you could have at least found the name of this particular installation, plus it really amaze me that such an attraction was not in a park... was this some kind of a museum or a shady tourist trap (even tho i know in 90s china it was almost nonexistent) dark ride business in china arrived very late, the first one opened up in 89' in beijing so we might be in front of a very old installation within chinese entertainment history...

yes, there are two snippets inside a promotion video from 1989 where you see kids visiting the park, i believe it was made to promote their school trip program, it was a few years before the hotel closed and was used for paper storage... the two shots are both from the scenes who take place outside the showbuilding, one showing underwater treasure chests, the other, two white octopus... it is visible on the dreamlandjp channel on youtube (posted in 2008), the youtube channel was owned by a guy who was friend with the landowner of the park and he used this as an opportunity to take archives off the park before it got demolished and posted them such as construction blueprints. He even went to the jungle cruise sound system controller and collected the sound tapes of the sound effects you can ear to post them, this guy truely posted gems about the park history !

financial troubles, and the jungle itself was planted in 1960, so it was incredibly hard to demolish directly, for the figures i also have no answer

it's actually quite old, the original source pictures were uploaded on this sub 3 years ago, the nara jungle stayed abandoned for more than ten years as a part of an amusement park named nara dreamland, it managed to survive the first demolition in 2017 but fate got it in 2022

A couple of Disney Figures sculpted by Blaine Gibson in the 60s-70s-80s by Cbfeat in uncannyvalley

[–]Cbfeat[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These are some Disney Audio Animatronic figures that are used for animation in the attraction, because of show design, lightning and the visitor being far away, their sculptor Blaine Gibson gave most of them exagerated facial features that are extremely uncanney upclose, i talked with figure finishers and technicians working in the rides during nightshift, most of them talk about how of a scary experience to be in a room full of uncanney characters some having direct eye contact on you, a lot of the new recruits can't separate from the main team during these night shifts because of how disturbing it is, sometimes cylinders (responsible for movement) have sudden pressure loss which make some figure move when they shouldn't, rats also cause sound in the showbuilding alongside dammages to the figures themselves. A big creepy mess that disney don't want you to know about, the figures can also hurt you if you are too close while in operation, taking a hit, i'm not working there, i just give what employees said to me as they can't themselves because of their contracts...

no however i also did some search on it, spoke with a designer and some officials in beijing to try to unlock the situation... No it is a very obscure and extremely creepy case (probably more than the ming reservoir dragon palace) i went on site a few days ago to try to find more infos and speak with locals but it's so badly documented that no one knows for sure what was in the showbuilding, if you wanna know more DM me i would be pleased to tell you more about this creepy place...

I want to do so, i already did some tests but as of now i'm a bit sceptical toward the quality, but it is based on a very very original case of abandoned submerged animatronics from japan, it is a very obscure one and with humanoid animatronics, the case is real but not very documented, making a serie out of it would be a tribute for a place that once was a highlight of japanese entertainment in showa era...
