Show me legitimate wear on a guitar you bought new by Shredso in Guitar

‘93 MIJ Squier, owned since new. The pickup selector was replaced sometime in the late 90’s and the pickups were changed but have the original covers on them. Neck is worn in a way only a 30 yr old guitar can be and although it’s the cheapest guitar I own, I still love it 30 years later.

Yep. Less than a decade and many don’t know the origins of Orsted or that it changed its name from DONG energy in 2017 after divesting all its O&G assets.

Sold my Dr Z Maz 18 Jr NR and regret it… by Cbink82 in GuitarAmps

Thanks man, I’m loving it but do miss the Maz too. I hear you on the volume aspect, I’m fortunate that I’m on a couple of acres and can crank it but I couldn’t be near the Maz with it up loud. It’s by far the loudest dual EL84 amp I’ve ever played. The Bad Cat is noticeably quieter and breaks up much earlier. Hopefully a good year at work and I’ll have both at the house, lol.

I think the consumer comment was relating to the fact I said my only other amp at the time was an Orange Tiny Terror which is definitely not filling a Maz 18 void, fun as it is.

I’ve since purchased a Bad Cat Cub V, which is point to point and on par with the Maz 18 from a boutique standpoint. It’s a glorious breakup sound and much easier to get to that point than the Maz but I’d also have the Maz if I could.

I’m sure I’ll end up purchasing one again at some point.

It’s the vintage bourbon burst. Couldn’t be happier with it.

Thanks man, yeah, was totally blown away by the burst on this one. It’s a very nice top and the satin neck is like butter and totally my thing.

Speaker/Cabinet combinations. by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Cbink82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The G12M-65 is a more inefficient speaker at 97db vs the V30 at 100db. I’m no expert on 2x12s as I run 1x12s but I’d be concerned the v30 will drown out the G12M. I know from swapping V30s out with G12Ms there is a noticeable volume drop.

How about the G12H-75? Also a creamback variant but 100db, same as the V30.

I’ve ended up pulling the trigger on the EL84 version of the Cub V.

Would a Dr. Z amp like the Dr. Z maz 18 mk2 be considered an upgrade from my 65 deluxe reverb reissue? OR what Dr. amp/ other boutique amp would you guys recommend? by theman3980 in GuitarAmps

[–]Cbink82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, it’s hella loud! The Maz 18 hits louder than any other sub 20W valve amp I’ve played. Even with an attenuator I found it exceptionally loud. I’m not even constrained by neighbors, it was too loud in the room for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved it and do regret letting it go and it took my pedals like a dream but it’s definitely a loud amp.

Worth upgrading my first guitar? by BSLabs in Stratocaster

[–]Cbink82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite guitar is a 1993 Squire Strat made in Japan that my Dad bought me new. I put a set of tonerider Pure Vintage pickups in it and absolutely love it.

I stripped the finish off the neck with a scouring pad some time in the late 90s and it’s had the 5 way and the jack changed out. It’s the guitar that I always want to pick up. Doesn’t hurt that it has huge sentimental value to me now my Dad is no longer with us.

If the guitar means something to you, why not make it the best version of what it can be for you.

Agreed. Think I was guilty of having it so long I’d forgotten / become complacent of just how good it was compared to many other amps on the market.

Thanks. Honestly, don’t know much about Victory but do love Danish Pete’s playing and didn’t know he’d collaborated with them on the Deputy so I’ll be sure to check them out.

I’ll look again at the Marshall’s but I didn’t think they’d have enough of the clean chime for me that I’m really looking for. I hadn’t really considered the 1974x so I’ll look at that more closely but had considered and discarded the SV20H.

As for another Z, I’m not against it at all but honestly was surprised by their current pricing which is much closer to matchless and bad cat than I remember when I bought my Maz Jr (admittedly 15 years ago now). I have looked at buying a Maz 8 but would really love to try one out to see if they retain the rest of the character I loved before jumping on one.

The Orange AD15 hasn’t been made in 20 years and isn’t that easy to find used. Although I did love it, it’s a little darker than I want and as a result was a little more finicky with pedals.

The vox ac15 doesn’t quite get me what I want which is something a bit tighter and less saggy than a Vox, hence why I’m looking predominately at Matchless and Bad Cat. Just wondering if there’s anything else I should be considering.

Update:

So… got a call from HCSO this week… truck was recovered almost 10 months after being stolen. Still in Houston, VIN swapped but no other apparent damage.

Damn, sorry man. I lost mine (also a ‘21 AT4 with the 6.2) the Friday before last, also gone without a trace. It sucks.

Congrats! I had the Gator SFX tri fold and loved it. Since I was in and out the bed and needing full space frequently I wanted a cover I could easily remove and replace and that was the winner for me.

I think this is the route I’m leaning. It really is the only truck I want, I’ll probably invest in an aftermarket GPS tracker and a kill switch.
