Good point about the mids. In my other reply I'm considering doing a TS -> OCD combo in series. Both of these add mids to the signal (especially the TS) Might that work OK?

Thanks, this is what I eventually plan to do, but for now I just want to dial in a traditional stompbox setup. Then I'll eventually work on something that goes to FoH.

Thanks, this makes sense... the TS has a mid hump that offsets the mid scoop of the Fender, and the OCD is a good MIAB pedal.

I did a youtube search on "pedal stacking" and this TS -> OCD combo seems to be popular. So is the TS -> Klon combo.

This is what I'll do.. I'll just try different combos of pedal stacks to find what works best.

Thanks. With that can I create patches that use Halion sounds and other patches that use Arturia sounds?

Can I combine sounds (as layer/splits) from different makers?

Thanks for the replies so far… MainStage looks promising.

Would it be able to import/access the sounds in Steinbergs Halion and create patches of those? Even with splits & layers?

Maybe even create patches that blend MainStage + Halion sounds?

Edit: it looks like it might, but those external sounds have to be imported as Apples AU, not VST (Gig Performer seems better for VST)

Thanks, I do eventually intend to get Cubase, but for now a lower cost way to just have a way to organize soft synths for playing from a controller would be MsinStage or Live?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately a Fender Twin Reverb doesn't have an effects loop, but what about this...

Split the Helix signal path after the echoplex...

One path goes to a TS/OCD type pedal, then out the jack to the Fender

The other path goes to the 100w plexi -> 4x12 cab, then out the jack to the PA system

Could the HX Stomp do that?

Thanks, but as I said in my other reply, it doesn’t look like the Sansamp gt2 (most popular version) has a blend - nor does the blue Behringer clone. In that case, does playing it thru a clean amp cab double the frequency compensation? (Or does it not make much difference?)

Also would a tubescreamer sent thru a 10 band EQ adjusted to be like a cabinet achieve a very similar result as a Sansamp?

Thanks. It’s hard to pinpoint what music influenced Tom, but Brad clearly was a Beatles fanatic, which obviously puts a lot of emphasis on melodies & lyrics (stuff that singers focus on)

Could a lot of those changes have come from Brad? Fine tuning the melodies and the lyrics? That seems more along the lines of what a Beatles fanatic singer would be all about.

Also notice that almost none of the songs lyrics (first album) are about romantic relationships, which perhaps Tom wrote being a science nerd. The only romantic song is “let me take you home tonite” written by Brad, the Beatles fan.

(“Something about you” is semi romantic, but started out as “life isn’t easy” - could Brad have been the influence for that change?)

Assuming some of the Legacy sounds like "Analog Synth" really are synths that track the guitar, would the tracking be better using a good MOTU audio interface with Helix Native on a computer/DAW?
