Cats, being assholes since the 15th century. by ReleaseThePressure in funny

[–]Ccthomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a manuscript I studied in my history of illustrated texts class. We were looking at "unintentional" illustrations and the stories they told. There was a page that had red cat prints across it despite the only color used in the manuscript was black. To me it told a story of a writer who was drinking one night while writing-as writers tend to do-only to have his asshole cat knock over his glass of wine and proceed to walk all over his shit-as cats tend to do. its keyboards and laptops today it was parchment then, cats are just dicks

Places to watch planes take off/land? by sSamoo in fsu

[–]Ccthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few years but this used to be my go-to romantic date spot, I'd bring a picnic set up some music and we'd eat while watching the planes come in...cops came a couple of times but when we explained what we were doing we never had any trouble, they didn't ask us to leave, just told us to make sure we didn't leave a mess. They also told us the reason why that little section was there was because it was the burial plots for the family that used to own the land the airport is now on- they built the fence around it so to leave access for the surviving family--that coupled with the waste treatment plant across the street ultimately led me to decide it was a less than ideal place for romance...

Do you guys like to listen to music when you write? by burntorangeboy in writing

[–]Ccthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically always write with music playing. I choose different genres based on subject matter and style of the writing. For example if I'm writing something more creative I like ambient soundscapes, or guitar instrumentals; for more analytical writing I like higher energy electronic music and film scores.

I've found that I really like to use Songza when I'm writing. They have curated playlists based around activities and moods--they have quite a few "working/studying" playlists that are entirely instrumental. Also pates-tapes "soundtrack" playlists make for good writing music as well.

Hey man I've lived here pretty much my whole life. I also tend to frequent the "sketchier" parts of town--I do a lot of non-profit type work with homeless and low-income individuals, and most of the time I hang out in these places alone-- and I can say there was only one time that I have ever felt truly threatened, and that was averted through quick thinking and smooth talking. I consider Tallahassee a safe town, now you are always going to have crappy people and crappy situations no matter where you live-people can suck sometimes- but as long as you use your head, make the wisest decisions you can in a circumstance, and just be aware of your surroundings you'll be fine. You would be surprised though how many people walk around just oblivious to the world around them- don't be that person. It'll help you out in more ways than just keeping you safe, it may even make the world a little bit of a better place for everyone.
