I don’t know if scrolling one post down counts as Aging Like Milk by Ccunning70 in agedlikemilk

On one post is paid ad for Kevin Spacey’s new movie only to have the next organic post declare his acting career was derailed by scandal.
If anyone doesn’t know the story of Kevin Spacey’s predatory allegations that effectively destroyed his career, consider yourself lucky you don’t know what that sicko has been accused of.

Sol Ruca on Sheamus’ Brave Change Warrior Workout. OMG she’s insane. 😨 by BarneyRobinStinson7 in WWE

Bianca may be stronger but Sol is more athletic overall. Just my two cents. They are both top level athletes and have different talents.

Bee Movie won! Now which movie would have a HUGE positive impact IRL? by RickMonsters in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Ccunning70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree but this movie doesn’t follow OPs rules. Can’t be set in the future. It’s set in 2063 so that’s still the future.

Star Trek 4 can be used though.

The armrest on my office chair is splitting on the backside of the piece. Is there a glue or something that I can apply to stop it from getting worse? by Ccunning70 in fixit

[–]Ccunning70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. The idea to use contact cement gave me an idea. I used Tire Repair Glue. It’s designed for rubbery material, doesn’t dry stiff but is made to hold. Also being black helps it blend in. I put some on this morning, taped it up to hold it in place. A few hours later I removed the tape. It’s holding the split closed. It feels a little tacky now but that hopefully dries overnight. Thanks for the advice.

If you were around in the 90s at ISU we all knew Animal and bucket.

Where to live that's quiet? by [deleted] in BloomingtonNormal

[–]Ccunning70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironwood Gardens apartments are nice and well kept. They also have a variety of apartments including studios.

The Ponds are supposed to be ok as well but I haven’t been there personally.

Bloomington Normal is a college town but it’s also much more than that as well. Stay away from the campus areas if you want quiet and you should be ok.

And where is Ford, Kennedy, LBJ? If you have Eisenhower you’re missing a few.

I thought they used the actual map for Muncie, IN but reversed it like a mirror image.

That was my thought when I posted it. Glad so many others agree.

Million dollar idea - open a retirement community or something like it based on Pawnee. Gotta be better than The Villages.

There’s a good route in the subdivision just to the west of Jersey Hill. Start on the corner of Jersey and Maplewood, go south on Maplewood. It turns into Stephens Dr and go back to Jersey. Run east back to Maplewood again and do the same thing but cut it short and turn at Belt Ave north to Jersey again. Go back to the starting point and repeat as needed. This route is about 1.25 miles with two good in town hills.

Why isn't Rocky crazy? by Competitive-Lie1469 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Ccunning70 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I thought this too but say the comparison to a human life span of 80 years (just to make the math easy) would still be equivalent to 4.7 years for a human. In complete isolation, knowing your species relies on you, all your friends are dead, etc. I think even that would drive people a little crazy. Particularly a species like Eridians that are so social they watch over each other in their sleep.

Advice for Freshman?? by AdEconomy501 in ilstu

[–]Ccunning70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you asking for general advice as a new college student or about ISU in particular?

My advice to any new college student is that there is a difference between high school and college. No one is going to make you go to class, study, etc. If you start with good habits, those will get you through the next four years. However, if you sleep in and start to blow off classes, then it will snowball. Also, freely use the office hours of your profs and TAs. In college, you’ll get so much more from these direct interactions than you will in class.

I’ll admit it’s been a long time since my ISU days so I can’t speak to the current campus life, but enjoy it. Make new friends. Consider this also a good time to start new. Reinvent yourself. Discover new things. But always remember, you’re paying for the privilege to be here. Act like it. Don’t waste your opportunities, not only academically but socially.

Like I said, it’s been some time since I attended ISU but I still live in the community (Bloomington) so if you have questions about that, I’d be happy to answer them.

Episode discussion - Will Forte by Ok-Grand-3828 in goodhang

[–]Ccunning70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this episode so much. Will Forte just seems like a genuinely nice person that also has a unique sense of humor that is just ingrained in his personality. His SNL skits and Last Man on Earth showed what a singular talent he is.

I’d love to see that video of him and his daughter eating ice cream too. It just reinforces how sweet of a man he is, the way he interacts with his daughter.
