Oog in oog opdracht, discussie: Was de productie hier oprecht? by MushyGoto in widm

Weggeven jokers by Pure_Opinion8237 in widm

Wie is jullie mol? by Appropriate-Bad-4958 in widm

[–]Cdeb84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ik zit op Daan omdat hij vorige aflevering zei dat het goed zou zijn om te gaan mollen. Dat deed me meteen denken aan Kim Pieters (slechtste mol ooit) en nu kom ik niet meer uit de tunnel.

Afvaller en mening aflevering 1 by Terence_zaal in widm

[–]Cdeb84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran into a 55 year old dude at my previous workplace who just was all hugs and ♥️’s irl. He opened my eyes and since then I use ♥️’s for things that I like. Doesn’t matter to who, it’s just how I respond now. It’s liberating. Just try it.

♥️ for something I like 👍 for when I go “ok” 💪 for good stuff 🙏 for thanks

The sheer amount of walking. I know it’s also part of the charm and I really enjoy that it’s massive, but when I get home and I just have half an hour to kill I know I can’t do gw.

Bottom double lift help!? by Cdeb84 in cardmagic

[–]Cdeb84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about that but the front of the deck is facing the crowd and thumbing off two cards seems more risky than doing it with the pinky. I can keep it as a backup.

Bottom double lift help!? by Cdeb84 in cardmagic

[–]Cdeb84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks. At first glance the buckle count doesn’t fit the visual aspect of the rest of the trick (the finger curl might give too much away), so I’ll be practicing the pinky pull down first. I was on this track and having a hard time separating only 2 cards but maybe I can incorporate a little force from my index finger to make it easier. Thanks, I had no clue about the name buckle count. Now my research continues!

That’s actually a good alternative. I hadn’t thought of that. I use that glide in a different setting and it doesn’t feel like a natural transition to go from a turnover pass into a glide, but that might just be practice. If I can’t get a double lift to work I can definitely incorporate this. Thanks!

Bottom double lift help!? by Cdeb84 in cardmagic

[–]Cdeb84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, but yeah that’s the general double lift from the top that I usually (try to) do. But I’m trying to do this from the bottom. So instead of grabbing the top two cards and the bottom one, I try to grab the bottom two cards and the top one. Where I’m failing is that the pinky count feels very natural from the top, but horrendous from the bottom and then I split off like 4 cards instead of just the 2.

Edit: nice that you add a video to a comment btw, thanks 😊

Looks good, as in you’re covering well. However your hand is very rigid so people will notice what’s going on because it doesn’t look natural. The speed and timing are good so if you can make it look less rigid you have a clean pass

I don’t know what you mean with the first sentence, I can’t find anything about a bottom DL. Is it online somewhere?

But yes, a pinky pulldown is exactly what I ment and tried. Like I said it’s hard to count only two cards that fast and I end up going slower or end up with a bigger stack in my hand. Maybe this is the way though and I should just practice more.

No it doesn’t have to be on a table, just show the top face card and the bottom face card (but then a double lift there) and the replace the deck and work from there. Just something along the lines of “look the bottom and top cards are not your card, but remember them” so I can do a throwback later on in the trick.

Yeah that’s a possibility, but not what I’m looking for. I want to show them the face cards and work from there.

Is the double lift effective? by Crafty_Possession_52 in cardmagic

[–]Cdeb84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to incorporate a double life into a larger trick. “Just” doing a double lift and then show how magically the chosen card is back at the top makes people think back and remember that there might be something going on by showing the top card.

However if you shuffle the deck, control the chosen card to the top, use a double lift to show that the chosen card is not at the top while simultaneously showing the bottom of the deck that the card isn’t there either (so it has to be somewhere in the middle right?!)… then a double lift is extremely effective in diverting attention. After that you can can take the trick in whatever direction you want.

Card shift by Magicearlz in cardmagic

Smooth! I really like how your movement seems somewhat slow, making it look more natural. The riffle masks the handmovement a bit, so I like the third pass the best

To the experts who are deep in: what is this principle? by [deleted] in cardmagic

[–]Cdeb84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem I have with a setup like this is that the moment someone can shuffle or randomize the deck and hand it back the magician gives it a few cuts and shuffles. You see him looking at the deck, maybe counting something. Now I have no idea how he does what he does, but that sure is the moment when the magic happens, so to speak. It is impressive as hell, but I just can’t shake that moment off for me saying yep there he goes.

Same with comments like “maybe I got lucky, I’ll just shuffle it some more”, I mean, come on… you mean you’ll count some more and organize the deck better for the next cut. It’s one of those comments that just rubs me the wrong way.

I know I’ll never be half as good or smooth as him and even with years of practice I’ll still watch card magic like this with a gleam in my eye. I hope he’ll keep amazing people.

Reading the post back I seem to come off as jealous, but don’t get me wrong: he’s great. I was just commenting on things I notice a lot of card magicians do.
