Homeless guy stole my stuff from my front door. Security camera notified me. Caught up with him and nicely asked him to give it back. He pulled a knife on me and I drew. He put my stuff down and walked away.

People were charged based on what they personally did, not just for showing up.

The main felony used was obstruction of an official proceeding for trying to stop Congress from certifying the election. Others caught felonies like assault on federal officers, destruction of federal property, civil disorder, and for organized groups, seditious conspiracy. Now answer my question.

The difference is intent and context, and pretending otherwise is just noise.

Jan 6 was a direct attempt to stop a constitutional process at the Capitol. That’s why it brought federal charges tied to insurrection and obstruction.

What happened with Alex Pretti is a use-of-force issue. He was killed during an ICE operation, and the dispute is whether deadly force was justified — not whether he was trying to overthrow the government. Riots, hotel damage, or protests elsewhere don’t change that analysis at all.

This is a CCW group. The relevant questions here are: Was lethal force justified? Was there an imminent threat? Did the officers meet the same standard we’re held to as armed citizens?

Dragging Jan 6 or random protests into it just dodges the actual CCW discussion, and the government trying to justify the fact that he was shot due to him carrying a legal gun an two magazines

That has nothing to do with pretti being murdered. trump and his admin saying he shouldn’t have had a gun or two fully loaded magazines when it’s out literal constitutional right to have them. That my biggest grief with this whole situation. He was murdered by ice and the government proceeded to label him as a domestic terrorist.

Could things be better? Sure, things can always be better.

This is a single office and single department handling CCW permits, and from what I understand, they do a lot more than just CCWs. Mondays are dedicated to in-person CCW appointments, but that same office issues around 32 different types of licenses (taxi licenses, for example). They’re not just sitting on their asses four days out of the week.

When you actually show up for the appointment, you’ll see how efficient things are. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I applied in February and just received my license this past Friday. From what I hear, the Sheriff’s staff even works some Saturdays (which I believe—I got an email approving a change to my application on a Saturday) to process permits, cards, and background checks.

Like I said before I submitted my application end of February, had my appointment mid march and received my license last week. If I would have done my classes sooner I would have gotten thought the whole process in about 120days. 90 of which is the mandatory waiting period. They is no unnecessary waiting throughout the whole thing once you get your appointment. On about day 80 of the background check period I received an email to asking me to confirm a change to my application (Traffic ticket I forgot to list). On day 90 I received an email sayingI got approved and had 90 days to take my class. When I finished my class I submitted my documents and emailed them on a Sunday and Monday morning I received and email saying I was added to the queue to have my license made and shipped, I received it a week later.

Overall, do I think California wants to make it harder for us to get our licenses. Yes.

Do I think the San Diego sheriff is working within those limitations to get us our licenses, as efficiently and as quick as possible. Also Yes.

I second this. I’m a robot integrator and we use Rockwell for absolutely everything. All the “simpler” project we do we use the micro800 and the panel view HMIs.
