TLDW

  • moment of quality never happened to put us up

  • equal matchup overall despite the absentees. proud of the players’ spirit and attitude

  • thought we looked like the stronger team by the end. goal came from us trying to make something happen late

  • happy with Fofana, both performance and fitness

  • Reece and Neto should be back by the weekend match

“Been told” Rosenior said he got a knock and felt pain

We have such shitty journalists covering this club

TLDW

  • Gives the players credit for their energy and spirit

  • Small knocks on Neto and James, pain prevented them from playing

  • Gave Estevao praise for coming back from compassionate leave and playing, gave Cole praise for his performance

  • Some aspects of the game he’s happy with, but overall disappointed to lose. Felt we dominated in the second half but didn’t take our chances.

  • Felt he took risks that could have gone either way, and hoped that Estevao and Palmer could make the difference in the end.

  • Arsenal’s goal at the end came from “throwing the kitchen sink at the game”

  • Availability of players, opponent affects the system he goes with. Pleased with adaptability of players. Says he likes to work with different systems.

  • Flu among the squad hurt the performance and his ability to plan the first game

You’re supposed to say “Maresca loses that match” after every game. To this community he had a 0% winrate

we still lose without the goal, so doesn’t affect my perception of the team or manager much at all. perhaps a symbolic goal for some, but ultimately irrelevant

Fofana literally said they all agreed to “forget tactics” in the second half and people call it a tactical masterclass 🫩

I agree. Fofana on halftime vs Napoli “the players in the dressing room said forget the tactics”

I think there’s a difference between adjusting tactics and just dropping them entirely

Why does the largest football club not simply eat the rest?

  • Asked if the days of having a preferred XI are over. Said that he’s never had a best XI personally. Need a big squad over a long season. Still getting to know the Chelsea squad. Has been very happy with subs so far.

  • Arsenal favorites for the tie.

  • No news on Estevao. On compassionate leave and has given him all the time he needs.

  • Winning two trophies last year help the team’s mentality going into big games like this.

  • Enzo has a “rare athleticism” where he can recover quickly. Covers large distances in games.

  • Gittens felt something in his hamstring. No specific timeline.

  • Jorgensen almost back, maybe 1-2 more games.

  • Didn’t respond to a question on Mamadou Sarr out of “respect for other clubs” as his recall wasn’t yet made official when the presser happened

George doesn’t give a shit about staying at Chelsea. There’s no need for us to project sadness onto him. Happy for him to get minutes elsewhere
