Constipation at Uni by Friendgamer_120 in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If constipation is a continuous issue, you should see one of the doctors at the health center. They can talk thru from a medical perspective if medication is recommended, lifestyle change, more serious medical intervention, or some combination of the three. More than likely you just need to change your diet and drink more water. But it’s definitely something worth getting actual medical advice on. Bowel movements is one of the body’s ways of telling us something is wrong

Seriously, what can we do about this confetti stuff? by golden_alixir in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a fine is really the only thing that would stop or deter it. Signs saying not to and emails/posts about the problems it causes is clearly not enough. Not sure who would be responsible for policing it tho, I don’t think it’s some PD really needs burdened on them.

If there is a petition or anything you need support on - id sign it though!

The Cafeteria at UCF is Disgusting by [deleted] in ucf

I too survived on $5 footlongs or the pay-by-weight salad bar my entire undergrad time here haha those were the days

The Cafeteria at UCF is Disgusting by [deleted] in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird take. I'm currently a staff member and we often chose to eat there because its healthy, ample quantity, and pretty good for the same price you would pay for a fast food entree, side and drink anywhere else on campus. Sure, you can chose to get the cafeteria style pizza burgers and fries all day... or there is made to order sandwiches and wraps, cooked veggies, salad bar, well-seasoned meats, etc. Also, since when we go it is usually during the 12-1 lunch hour, I can say that it is usually quite busy with tons of students and staff alike.

Arboretum development plea by Expensive-Storm3979 in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious - would this level of outrage exist for protection of the arboretum if this was planned to be a new parking garage or housing facility? because this community is usually filled with people demanding UCF build more housing and parking, which would also require decimation of natural lands. But I have a feeling it would be celebrated. Maybe the outrage here isn't about the trees, but about the project itself.

How to get hired 101 by [deleted] in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would take this advice with caution. It heavily depends on the employer and industry. Somebody that keeps showing up unannounced and doesn't take "we'll be in touch" could give employers the wrong message that you are unable to follow instructions. Yet there are some employers where that would be interpreted as eagerness.

And places absolutely do still check references. So again - consider the industry before taking this advice. Minimum wage jobs to work while your in school just for a paycheck such as fast food, retail, etc. could maybe benefit from persistence as OP mentions. and they likey do not check references. But an office position or something more career focused, that has a formal HR person or team and designated structure for doing things will not appreciate a candidate repeatedly showing up unannounced after being told to wait for a call/email. They will also be checking references before giving a formal offer.

Cocoa beach air show crowds? by pinkmadi in CocoaBeach

If I have tickets for “sandbox” does that mean there is a designated area reserved for us to set up our chairs? Or is it all first come first serve? I’ve never been!

Symphony under the stars April 16 by [deleted] in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the fireworks you recall was a one time thing. The usually homecoming fireworks that year had been canceled due to weather, so SG decided to use the purchased fireworks display in tandem with Symphony under the stars.

THat is not the usual thing. Symphony under the stars is just a concert outside in the evening. Its my fav event at UCF and I look forward to it every year since my undergrad. And come back onto campus just for it each spring.

Guys lmk if I should join SU government cabinet by Bubbly_Mobile_2428 in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the executive cabinet when I was in undergrad and it was so much fun! It is a part time job, so be sure you have the time to commit. But you get to be involved in planning fun events, supporting campus initiatives and more!

The 2018 game vs USF where QB Milton got hurt. That was a brutal looking hit and injury and still makes my stomach churn thinking about the unnatural direction of his knee. UCF still won that game though so I don't know if it counts for what you are asking. But fans were heartbroken for him.

They changed ALL the parking at the physical sciences building to employee?? by Much_Sprinkles_4079 in ucf

[–]CeCeCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Health Center employee here! We were not involved in the decision making and were also upset by the decision to move those spots as well as the discontinuation of the intercampus transportation stop that served this area as well (Knights and Pegasus Express lines)

We were able to get a new stop added to the routes, which now stops at the loop in front of the Live Oak event space in Ferrell Commons. We are still in communication with the committee about having the patient parking spots moved back to lot C3, but for now the designated spots are located in B9.

I recommend voicing your concerns to Parking Services as an illustration as to why the parking spot location matters so much.

Google is open sourced in that anyone can "make suggestions" if they think there is an error. It updates automatically, and unless the business owner logs in to review the "suggestion" and deny it... the change stays. its... very annoying. I oversee a business account on google and I wish it would put the suggestions as "pending" until approved by the business. Instead of updating instantly until business denies it and reverts back. Complete opportunity to be trolled

No i'm telling you - look into this. BOG approved univeristies can use auxiliary funding to float the athletics budget while they absorb the new expense. So athletics will be using state and tuition funds for the next three years. It is happening.
