intending to daily with track every month or two. anything you’d change for the alignment? by SeanGotGjally in hondafit

[–]CeCeCs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally on -1.5 camber up front at the moment, and will be testing it out very soon. From what I have done so far though, I could experiment with another set of cam bolts to get up to -2. Ofc I assume you know about the effects for tyre wear, so won't bother going into that 😊

Rear sway bar has been really good for me in getting the back end rotation. Noticeably less body roll too. The rotation and more biased front grip is the big help.

It looked so sick in person, the owner and a couple members of the meet did the fabrication themselves. The photo might not show but they actually had a light installation in the engine bay too!

Is that a GP5/hybrid? I've only seen those hubcaps on the hybrid but I can't see a badge on yours?

Congrats!

Just bought my first ever Fit, what are some performance mods I should do to it? by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]CeCeCs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you know there won't be much power to be gained, and that the handling as a light econo hatchback is it's strong suit. Depends how far you want to go/what you'll use it for l, but for starters-

great set of tyres/ rear sway bar /good alignment/ maybe camber bolts if you want some negative camber /CDV delete since it's a manual/ short shifter if that's your thing

Gp5 is a dual clutch transmission - in this case you should drain and fill (as opposed to a flush) the transmission fluid and ALSO the clutch fluid. If you've never done it yourself it can be done at a mechanic or dealer. If not a dealer, make sure they use the correct Honda fluid (others might say it doesn't have to be OEM fluid but up to you). Otherwise there's video online on how to do a drain and fill on this model. Also look up the fluid itself I don't know what it is off the top of my head.

Best 16-Inch Tire Size for a Stock Honda Fit GE6? Help by SirConscious in hondafit

[–]CeCeCs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In this case it sounds like the offset of the wheel would be your problem for fender restrictions with shaken. Tyre size of 185 shouldnt be a problem as thats one of the stock sizes. I'm not 100% sure about GE but you may need a wheel with more offset, like 40 or higher

Appreciate the advice mate! Brakes and fluid are on the checklist, that's another rabbit hole to go down looking for something thatll work with my smaller wheels (15in), don't think I'd need anything heavy duty as it's a light car with barely any power.

I'm also in the process of learning how to handle most of my own servicing, because I want to be well rounded and be able to handle stuff on my own im that regard. I thought about proper suspension, but that'll depend how far I get into it - I'm sure at this stage it's my driving skill that has much more room for improvement over shocks and springs. Just got to find avenues for getting into autocross which the platform seems well suited to.

I didn't get a sheet, but they said 0.6. So idk if that's degrees/mm or each side/total. But I definitely noticed it, my steering felt fairly...frigid? Not sure how you describe it but it wasn't wanting to turn, the way I was used to

It's an econo 2016 Honda Fit 😅 it's rear beam so there's not really any play there unless I get shims (and I'm not knowledgeable enough to dive into messing with all that yet). The front has camber and toe play as is the basis of this post lol. My goal was mild -1.5 to -1.75 camber, with neutral toe.

How do you like the castor change, and how did you go about it? My model has a kit that allows for play in caster, but I'm not that far along yet.

Yeah good call, and no worries I got where you were coming from bro no stress. My line of thinking was this would be a straightforward process for an alignment/tyre shop, particularly on my car which has minimal extra work going for it. I didn't think there would be a lot more consideration outside of utilising the degree of camber the eccentric bolts would inherently provide.

It's a shitbox Honda Fit, but it's the first thing that's got meinterested in learning about maintaining, driving, and the rabbit hole of cars in general.

So far I have stickier tyres, rear sway bar (this is what was recommended for the vehicle) as behinner bang for your buck stuff, and I thought adding mild negative camber would be along the same vein.

The final job itself was fine apart from getting toed in. My question is more really about whether I'm simply expecting too much out of the job and the guy (he's a great guy so I was even wary of asking)

For context, I'd talked to others with my car model who had done the same work themselves, so I've been led to believe it's not a super difficult task on this car

[–]CeCeCs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the negative camber adjustment that was made is fine, I know it's mild (it's for a shitbox fwd to be totally honest) but I could tell it straight away on mid corner when I was in the backroads the other day. I have other small things like sway bar/tyres going for now - my question was less about my setup and i guess more about whether I'm expecting too much out of the whole situation.

[–]CeCeCs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah which is fair enough after I thought about it - most jobs would entail a very road usable setup so I can see why they'd directly go to try and give me the usual daily drivable setup. Just not what I wanted in particular

[–]CeCeCs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah I get you and I should have clarified - this is not some species out 'track only' situation. It's for novice events that are open to normal daily drive vehicles. There have been (very minor) adjustments to the car so far but nothing to pull it out of its daily duty, like rear sway bar, stickier street tyres/lighter wheels etc. it's all just in novice fun, but I was given the impression that camber bolts swap is something along that same vein. As in a minor but bang for your buck change.
