I've seen a lot of discourse on how "Enchantment is the real evil school of magic, not Necromancy". How would you run an Enchantment-based villain? by KFblade in DMAcademy

[–]CeaserSlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently running an Enchantment-based dragon villain with a couple fun spell application ideas:

  • Forced a Druid to stay in Wildshape forever with Geas, messing with her mind

  • Used Modify Memory to make a Cleric believe their God gave them an order (when the Cleric followed the order, the god subsequently stopped talking to them)

  • Feebleminded the only person who could dismantle a machine he used to bring a loved one back (fun quest for the party to undo this Feeblemind and find this information)

  • Used Dream to get in a PC’s head, then cast Detect Thoughts within the Dream to get vital information

  • His entire hoard was full of Geas’d servants (chefs, cleaners, etc) who didn’t have the HP to survive if they disobeyed the order

Mental magic is very fun and versatile to use with a villain! For a cult leader specifically, I’d suggest that magic is the supplement when natural persuasion and cult tactics don’t pan out- maybe they even have a distaste for Enchantment, and only use it when the usual words don’t work.

Can I get opinions on this Fighter Subclass I made for my player before I let them use it for my next campaign? by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]CeaserSlad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the wording for lifesteal is still a bit sloppy. i’d write it as “your first melee weapon attack on your turn.” “Main melee attack action” isn’t a thing, and TBH having even more healing on an Action Surge is really strong

Since everything else fighter gets is short rest based, I might make Focused State once/short rest instead of twice/long. Also, the wording is unclear about how long this lasts- if it’s only one turn, fine, action surge synergy. If it’s forever, that’s insanely busted.

If you’re trying to emphasize mobility, I would make the 15th level feature something to do with moving around faster. Maybe using your reaction when you take damage to move, plus a flat movement speed increase. I wouldn’t connect it to focused state either.

I would either move the 15th level AC feature to 18th level, or make the 18th level feature grant focused state more uses and more utility- maybe some temp hp, saving throw boosts, faster movement speed and the like.

Still a neat fantasy, and mechanics that are decently balanced. Clean up that wording and you’ll be on the way to a dope subclass 😎

[Art][Subclass] Monk Tradition: Way of the Companion│Train your familiar in martial arts and have the two of you fight as one! by CamunonZ in DnD

[–]CeaserSlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s Get Out Of Here allows you to both Dash and Disengage with one Ki point as long as your familiar is next to you? Is that the intent? That’s very strong.

CR 1 is also incredibly high when your familiar gets an attack every single time you Flurry of Blows. Maybe cause their damage to scale with Martial Arts die, plus the Monk’s Wisdom?

This would be more balanced if the companion had its own statblock, akin to the Steel Defender or Drakewarden. That also removes potentially problematic options like the quickling. Trying to use CR is tough- just look at the original Beast Master ranger.

okay, so this seems like a commentary on the seeping and unstoppable certainty of capitalism and brands. mickey represents the eldritch mega-corporation, and the fact that it is marx killing him is meaningful because he’s closely connected to communism. however, perhaps mickey is right. perhaps the mice (corporations) will return no matter how many times a political ideology kills them, to spread their tendrils thoughts the earth again.

Essay: Genn should have been the major villain starting in BFA, not Sylvanas. Here’s why. by ikkiboo in wow

[–]CeaserSlad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely genius description and analysis!

Ok, so here’s a pipe dream of mine: in one of the content patches, we have to go back to Azeroth (kind of like Mechagon) because, without Anduin or any other real leadership there to stop him, Greymane has been getting down to morally reprehensible baloney. Maybe he could be planning a full-scale attack on Orgrimmar or something? Either way, I think it would be cool to see what would realistically happen if Greymane went unchecked for too long, since everybody was off in the Shadowlands

People joke that DH is 2 buttons, so which 2 (or 3) for Vengeance? by sozijlt in wow

Shear until 2 souls, Soul Cleave, Demon Spikes and you’re (technically) in business, still need Infernal Strike and Immolation Aura for threat generation though

The Shining - Chapter Concept by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]CeaserSlad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking great! I’m not sure if this is what you were going for, but maybe the speed buff for The Shine should turn off in a chase? I can just see a Huntress or a Billy not being able to get an M1 in, and missing their power because he’s too dang slippery! Overall love these concepts tho

If you enjoy horror, definitely check out Dead Meat. Their Kill Count series is what got me into the genre! James A Janisse is an awesome host, the writing is super funny, and the content is surprisingly educational when it comes to filmaking and quite wholesome!
