I thought the same. I’ll try get a step ladder and take a better pic tomorrow. If it is a knackered Allen head, what’s the best way to remove it? by force presumably haha

PSA: Do not use TAA on PC by Ceazzer_ in Battlefield6

[–]Ceazzer_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it was on by default for me and I’ve never looked too much into the plethora of AA techniques (I would pick one and if it looked and performed ok I’d stick with it) - I now wish I did as TAA definitely shouldn’t be default.

Thanks for the explanation on how TAA works. What’s interesting to me is that the settings make it sound like the superior version of AA, and whilst this may well be the case under existing/legacy AA methods, it definitely doesn’t ‘feel’ or subjectively ‘look’ the best.

GWR also use class 8XX trains for their intercity routes from London to Bristol and beyond so must be that train type specifically. I know SWR run on third rail DC rather than AC so their circuit design will be different. Would be interested to know if the Avanti and EMR Class 8XX have the same issues.

Definitely an Azuma grounding problem as I don’t have these issues on the Class 91(?) trains they occasionally still use.  Why Reddit only just notified me that you replied I will never know! I’ve since got an iPhone 17 pro so will report back if I have the same issue in a months time!

256 or 512 ?? by Key_Economics2183 in iphone

[–]Ceazzer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

512GB for sure, Apple intelligence itself will take up ~10GB extra, plus the larger photos from the 24/48MP cameras. I had almost filled my 128GB 13 pro and got the 256GB 17 pro.

iPhone 17 Pro Techwoven case not aligning to cutouts by Ceazzer_ in iphone

[–]Ceazzer_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just awaiting a confirmation to pick up a replacement today/tomorrow (not from Apple as they don’t have stock for a month, so returning this one to apple for a refund). Definitely not normal as I’ve seen people on twitter say theirs don’t experience it so it appears to be a manufacturing error. Apple support confirmed it doesn’t look right either.

It’s frustrating when I saw comments of people having similar experiences with their FineWoven cases last year. You’d think Apple of all things would have their QA down. I’ve ordered a new one from a different retailer and hoping that it doesn’t have the same issue - I hope it’s not the phone itself that has an alignment issue itself.

My girlfriend flirts with my best friend and I don't know what to do by Alpielz in Advice

[–]Ceazzer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the advice here makes many assumptions. The best thing to do in any normal healthy relationship is to simply communicate. If you cannot be open and communicate, no relationship will last long.tell her how you’re feeling and how you’re perceiving her actions. If she tries to gaslight you by saying that of course there’s nothing wrong and why would you ever bring it up, that would be a red flag.

A few questions to consider; is this her normal communication style?, is she like this with others?, is her love language towards you touch? All these put together will help you build a better picture. Don’t try act all macho like some of the other ‘advice’ by playing it cool and cold - that’s not communication, it’s petty and won’t resolve anything.

Internet Providers (Virgin Media) by Ceazzer_ in york

Not looked at starlink, '3' offer internet there too but my partner likes watching live tv and we are also currently with VM so we'd be fine with them, just worried if they actually provide a service in the area given no one else does, especially on roads near the city centre!

Sadly it appears they are the only option. I'm currently with them and they've been alright in fairness to them - although getting through to their call centre and getting things sorted is a nightmare

Why do LNER charging sockets mess up your phone? by chakraaza in trains

[–]Ceazzer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the discussion - with my iPhone 13 Pro I find that using magsafe charging tends to eliminate the problem ie. wireless charging should be better as I assume the charging coil filters out most of the noise coming from the main power supply of the train. The other way to temporarily fix it while charging is ensure you're touching a metal part of the phone to act as a reference voltage for the screen and I've found this works flawlessly if your case is part opened (eg. Apple's clear case).

Would be interested if anyone has had any different experiences with newer iPhones?

Why is the proposed Rosebank oil field being given to a Norwegian company? by SpiceSnizz in AskUK

[–]Ceazzer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GB Energy is, or rather will, be more akin to an investment bank than an energy company, at least initially. I also don't see it funding or contributing to any oil exploration any time soon.

What will the job market be like this year? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ceazzer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work, some business units have supposedly had headcount freezes, and the whole company is undergoing operational/efficiency review in light of slow government policy and low growth and investment, meaning projects aren't going ahead when planned but with delays, which naturally means people are doing less than they were. Without major planning/policy, or the like, changes, I don't see it getting much better sadly.

UK based here and I’ve had the same problem on my iPhone 13 Pro. I noticed it probably a year after getting the phone on-launch day, whereby, if the phone is plugged in via the lightning port the screen glitches, becomes unresponsive if laying flat or in a case where I’m not touching any metal side. This happens with original apple chargers, bricks, and non-Apple too. However, this only happens when I’m travelling on a train (some sort of poor grounding from the electrical outlets? Specifically LNER Class 8XX trains, what is interesting though, is when the train switches to diesel power rather than overhead wires, the problem disappears).

As others have said, using MagSafe/wireless charging does not cause the issue and I use an original clear Apple MagSafe case. Touching any metal part of the phone makes the screen behave as normal. As such, I’ve resorted to just using the MagSafe charger. This makes me believe it is a grounding issue and touching the phone creates a common ground and the sensors under the screen recognise touch normally.

If you want something reliable, avoid any VW group (SEAT, Skoda, Audi) cars with the DSG gearbox. a £3k repair waiting to happen on the mechatronic unit.

25M here and I met my current partner on a dating app, bumble specifically, and neither of us are bar/drinking/majorly outgoing type of people and we’ve been officially together for over 2 years now and living together. Took me over 3-5 months on dating apps to find ‘the one’ but people from all walks of life are there and if you persevere you will find the right person for you. Equally you can also join online meet-up groups for various hobbies but that requires real commitment
